I get that’s it’s extremely easy to overrate current prospects, but it’s insane how quickly our mid-late round drafting turned around since Benning. Like under Benning we only had ONE pick after the 2nd round become a 100-game NHL player (Gaudette) since 2015. Hell, only one 2nd round pick really worked out (Hoggy). That’s a horrible track record.

Now, I know that most of these guys will inevitably flame out before hitting the NHL but in two drafts (compared to the previous six for Benning) we picked up players like D-Petey, Mynio, Kudryavtsev, Brzustewicz (RIP), Alriksson and Mueller from the mid-late rounds. I’d guarantee we get more than one 100-game NHL player from that list.

Edit: Did forget our boy Silovs, but even that’s more on Ian Clark’s autonomy

Allvin has really come in and worked overtime creating a winning organization from top to bottom. When you look at what Benning left him, he’s done so well. A year ago, waiving PDG would have been insane! Now we have more depth than we can keep on the roster. Great problem to have.
