@Oilers d'Edmonton

I haven’t gave a single shit about the patch until now.

I like gambling, but FUCK this. Just another reason I won’t be buying Fanatics dog shit product. You’re gonna charge me $10 for something I don’t even want? Oh hell no.

  2. Flatoftheblade

Wow that is absolutely wild that they transparently charge for it with its own price tag. The balls. Holy shit.

  3. Nebardine

I hope that shit is optional, as I want nothing to do with it.

  4. p0tentX

Wait, shouldn’t I be getting a discount for advertising?

  5. _ShutUpLegs_

What the fuck? The whole point of advertising/sponsors is that you pay to have your product or branding on something to create awareness/hype of your product. It is a cost of doing business. How are they going to make a fan pay to have something on their jersey that most don’t want to be there in the first place? This is that fucking weird it’s got to be fake or some kind of cock up.

If anything they should be paying me to wear it/add it.

  6. DontforgetaboutDRAI

I kinda see what you’re saying but some people want to be wearing exactly what the players are

  7. dwtougas

Wait until people learn that Oilers are a brand that they’re paying to advertise.

  8. BabathaRicky

The New York Yankees did something similar with their sponsorship patches; especially baffling there since the Yankees uni is pretty famous for its relative unchanging simplicity

  9. Andy-Martin

Patch or no patch, that’s an absurd price.

  10. Bizkitgto

I’m glad I scooped up two Adidas jerseys last year. Everyone was saying Fanatics would be a clusterf@&k last year.

Don’t worry – the Fanatics jersey deal with the NHL is only for 10 years.

  11. Substantial_Ant77

Yeah I’m definitely not getting a new Oilers jersey any time in the near future. I tried so hard to get my hands on one of the last adidas ones :’(

  12. joe_8829

Don’t buy at ice district. I paid 250 at united cycle, they get theirs from fanatics the numbers are slightly different, but no PA patch either and it was 70 cheaper

  13. HarloldBallardLives

Buy up the remaining Adidas sweaters and wait out the 10 year rein of Fanatics

  14. GeorgeGammyCostanza

I think I’ll be skipping my new jersey purchase this year.

  15. TepHoBubba

Why the F would I want a sponsor patch on my jersey I’m paying serious cash for? That sh1t would be off in a flash.

  16. SportsNPoli

While I do dislike the ads on jerseys league-wide, I don’t mind the option for fans to add the patch; especially if they want to look as close as possible to the on-ice product.

The additional cost is suspect (I’d assume Play Alberta would cover at least some of the cost for walking billboards), but at the end of the day is it really that different from stuff like dealer-branding on vehicles?

  17. _Halt19_

isn’t that a good thing? it means it’s cheaper to buy without ruining it with a gambling ad

edit: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN’T BUY IT WITHOUT THE PATCH

  18. FreakyFriday1045

I hate that when I play the 50/50 I get inundated with these Play Alberta emails. Isn’t this an AB gov operation?

  19. Dubs337

lol I’d pay them ten bucks to take it off

  20. Razzamatazz14

That’s some horse shit right there.

I won’t buy a jersey with an advertiser’s patch on it, so I guess I’m done buying them?

  21. GladdBagg

They can’t even spell jersey properly.

  22. moussetang

I’m going to assume Oilers jerseys are going to be high in demand from AliBaba.

  23. WarmFishedSalad

What a fucking joke. Imagine being a recovering gambling addict and having to have that on your jersey just because you want to support the team… what’s next, Perdue Pharma?? Might as well fully get into the realm of shit…

  24. canuck_11

I’m a Sens fan and last year the team shop was selling CIBC patches for fans to add to their jerseys.

  25. Will they take it off the jersey and discount me $10 instead?

  26. From my understanding, that’s the top tier of the jerseys, where that version is the exact one that the players would wear on ice, and there are supposedly cheaper ones that don’t have the patch.

That was, to my understanding, how it worked

  27. BackOfTheClass16

Boycott this jersey. May this year be a record breaking low for jersey sales.

  28. TheFaceStuffer

It was cool when we were one of the few teams not to have advertising on the jersey.

  29. MF-Villainy

Paying to rep a gambling website lmao. Fuck that

  30. OptimalSkeptic

Nobody notice the re-placement of the C? Looks terrible with the outline of where it was previously.

  31. drblah11

It’s one patch, Michael. What could it cost, $10?

  32. Jalex2321

    Buy it without the patch.

I understand that they charge extra because it’s an optional patch, so putting it on is an add on.

  33. Sufficient_Big_5600

Oh I figured this team was thirsty for cash the second I downloaded their app- and it was a subscription! Like no. Let me be a fan not your income. Shame.
