@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Precious cap relief of 1 dollar lol. I would not want to be Brandon Pridham. Dude is a cap wizard!

  2. GooseRider960

1 fucking dollar jesus christ Brandon Pridham masterclass

  3. Would have loved for Cowan to get a longer look with the team, just for the experience but Damm Pridham is a cap wizard

  4. Solace2010

Jesus that’s insane. It’s also reliant on LTIR space and is jarnkrok actually injured long term?

So I had to look it up. SOIR

    “Season Opening IR:

If a player is on a 2-way contract & was on an NHL roster for less than 50 games played last year & is injured prior to opening roster, their Cap Hit while injured is pro-rated based on # of days on roster last year multiplied by the current year cap hit.

Note: If a player was injured in a game outside of the NHL in the last season and meets the criteria above, he carries no cap hit. For example, if a player is injured in the AHL playoffs, is on a 2-way deal and was on the NHL roster for less than 50 games, and is still injured when the next season begins, he does not carry a cap hit.”

  7. Guys I hate to break it to you but it’s not that hard getting to $1 in space when you can adjust Pacioretty’s contract to perfectly hit that amount lol it’s the benefit of signing a guy right before rosters are locked in

  8. Drippythetrippy

Where will they spend that loonie is the question

  9. Jaymesned

I don’t know what Brandon Pridham makes but it isn’t enough.

  10. souplipton

Does this mean that when Minten is no longer injured, we can send him to the Marlies and get another $76.5K in cap space?

  11. DougFordsGamblingAds

If this is the plan, it seems like we’re doing something nice for Minten. Could have just as easily sent him to the Marlies, and paid Pacioretty lower performance bonuses/higher salary. I think this way Minten gets NHL pay cheques and facilities.

  12. Toronto Media headlines the next day « Toronto Maple Leafs refuse to spend to the Cap ceiling »

For anyone wondering how SOIR works (like I did 5 minutes ago):

Season opening IR exists because injured players cannot be send down to the AHL (which is why it only applies to players on two way contracts, cause it’s for AHL players that are effectively “stuck” in the NHL till they’re healthy)

The team gets relief from having to carry the dead weight based on how many days the player was on an NHL roster for the previous season.

Minten makes $816,667 and the NHL season is 192 days. Last season he was rostered for 18 days so the Leafs are accountable for 18/192 of hit cap hit which amounts to $76562

  14. LtColumbo93

Lucky for the Leafs their injury situation allows them to basically do nothing and still be cap compliant. Doesn’t solve the issues though just pushes the decisions later down the road as none of the injured guys will be out the whole season.

  15. I was genuinely asking myself how the fuck are we gonna be cap compliant this morning.

    Then i read this wizardry.

Lol are we just making up injuries or are these legit?

  16. thismadhatter

Cowan didn’t stick out at all. Needs to go back for that extra year, sadly.

  17. allinthek

What happens when the IR guys come off the IR though, then do we need to make space again?

  18. International_Eye394

maybe we can get another goalie with that cap space

  19. OhJustANobody

Rumour has it that ChatGPT asks Brandon Pridham for help with its Math.

  20. power_of_funk

Tre has to make a move.

Berube says Jarnkork is day-to-day so this LTIR relief wont last long.

I dont like it but Liljegren might be the easiest to move and get all the cap relief we need. Ideally it would be Jarnkork traded and Reaves/Timmins waived
