Bob, presidents trophy winner has won the cup in how many of the last 10 years? Pacing your self and finishing the season strong has been the Oilers modus operendi for the last several seasons and it has generated great results. Playing meaningful hockey in April, May and losing is just as important as winning.

It would be nice to have a better start through to the end but I dont see they will be as good as people think till the trade deadline. Like the last year. I do think the pacific division isnt as good as it was the last 2 years. We know the Oilers issues. Nurse and the young guy is not a great 2nd line. Serious growing pains there. And the 3rd line d-pair isnt as good as last year.
I do think our forwards are better to start. Considering mcleod didnt really improve as much as we thought it was good to let him go.
I still think we would have been better with broberg and holloway. In our system Holloway was gonna have a breakout season. Who knows in st louis.
I just dont see the Oilers in 1st place by new year. Maybe by end of the year.

Funny how no one on the panel brings up any of the Oilers issues that exist mainly on the back end. How do they get a championship defence with zero assets to upgrade.
They all have to focus on being defensive ogres (including forecheck, backcheck, tracking)…the offence will be there.
Bob has a good point. We need to have some more home ice advantage. Maybe not conference winning but close.
