Gives them room to potentially take a bad contract or two off someone in exchange for picks or prospects. Tons of flexibility here. Connie’s done a good job in his first year on the job
1: Keep everything as is.
2: Get #1 pick.
3: Offer sheet mcdavid next year for shits and giggles.
I understand hesitancy to bring in cap dumps that might block the kids, but remember we can also be a third team retaining salary in some trades, or take some cap dumps that expire at the end of this season. Always good to have what is basically dry powder going into a rebuilding season, you never know when it will come in handy.
