I didn’t think he looked all that close to being ready for a top 6 role in the NHL and I’d rather he plays 20 minutes a night in London than 12 mins a night with guys like Reaves in the NHL

  2. Seems to be the right move. I understand why there is a rule about age and the CHL/AHL but I would think he would get more out of being in the AHL this year playing with adult bodies.

In any case, he can take his time. I would rather not have the organization rush prospects. He could be a real good one in the future for us.

I really believed he was going to make the team and if the leafs weren’t really good he probably would of. Didn’t have a great camp, was forcing it too much, you could tell it was weighing on him to score, and his body language looked like he knew he wasn’t making it. He played a lot of hockey this summer between mem cup, prospects camp, world juniors showcase, leafs camp. He needs a true NHL summer and bulk up. Next year he will make the team.

Right move. Just sucks the OHL’s rules don’t allow for him to play in the AHL. He’s a little too good for the OHL. He’s not ready for NHL but it is what it is.

On ohl’s end it’s to protect losing half decent talent when they are 18-19.

Gotta be patient. He might need this year in the O and another year in the AHL. He’ll be playing pro hockey next year regardless.

Think about guys like Getzlaf and Perry. I’m not in any way talking about style of play or personality, simply the career path. Both Getzlaf and Perry did 4 years CHL, caught the tail end of the AHL playoffs in year 4, started the following year in the AHL and THEN finally got their call up. Both also later 1st round picks.

You can both be highly touted and take a little more time to develop. Hoping this kids a hit.

Just like somebody commented the other day, you never hear of a prospect being ruined by being in the minors, you do hear about prospects being ruined by playing the in the NHL too early

would’ve liked to see him suit up for a few regular season games before being sent down. but he’s clearly not ready to be a full time nhler yet. he’s super close and the marlies would’ve been better for him but oh well

Just give him time to marinate in Junior, thankfully Leafs don’t have any glaring forward issues, considering how good of a camp Robertson had and can afford to keep Cowan down.

Plus Steeves is tearing up Marlies camp and other guys like Greby and Minten are also having a nice camp, so Leafs have the luxury of having Cowan far enough down the depth list that he’s unlikely to play this season

The Knights need all the help they can get it looks like 😓

Yeah, he probably wasn’t thrilled about going back to the O, but honestly, it’s a solid move. Let him beef up, dominate the league like he’s collecting Pokémon cards, and get ready for next year. Trust me, he’ll be filling the net so much, they’re gonna have to build him his own goal post just to keep up! 🤣🤣🤣
