Super happy with our dinner-pail guys, defense, and goalie crew.. our superstars need to get their heads screwed on straight
I love OEL man
That was the weirdest power Play I’ve ever seen in the third. —I’ve got the sound off and I couldn’t figure out if the Leafsor ll Devil’s had a power play.
The whole game seemed like it was in slow motion. I mean there were times when it looked like less than even a college game
Nylander only got 15 mins
Knies was on the ice 9 seconds more than Nylander
OEL looks great thus far, but they desperately need a 6th D that has some defensive ability. Willy and Mitch have also easily been worst wingers in the new style
I bought tickets to this game thinking it’s a preseason game given how cheap the lower level seats are. Why can’t SBA be the same 😭
Don’t get me wrong… there’s a lot of positives from this game including the win. Lots of guys played well, but did anyone else find the team looks incredibly soft these last 2 games. Hits are weak, and the boys are bullied off the puck so easily. Lots of stick swinging and pucks bouncing around in skates.
Maybe it’s just me, but I thought Berube was a « heavy hockey » guy.
Hildebeast is a gem
Pros
– The bottom 6 worked hard and played well.
– Besides giving up a PP goal, the PK was great.
– The defense was good enough.
– Woll has some competition with Hildeby.
– Knies and Tavares played well.
Cons
– Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Rielly looked so off.
– The Power Play was awful.
I hope this game’s refs have slightly moist socks for the rest of their lives
Tanev with his arms around guys.. love to see it
Max Pacioretty scored the first goal of our season wearing 67 if that’s not a story book start to a story book hopefully ending this June idk what is 👀👀👀👀
Berube > Keefe
And we need to protect Hildeby at all costs
F**k everyone who questioned the OEL signing. Love what he brings and his cap hit is really not bad at all. Hildeby’s post game interview was so moving that I’ve almost forgot about Woll. Almost…
Pp opportunity through 2 games
Leafs: 4 + 2 (0/6)
Opponent: 5+5 (2/10)
Seems the decade long trend continues. The PP is hot garbage so I guess it’s not a major loss atm.
something’s up with willy, he’s been noticeably pissed off since his first preseason game.
overall another good game from the team. defence looks much improved, penalty kill looks great, another very solid goalie performance, and the team worked hard all night.
pretty good for the second game of the year
A trio of Hildeby, Stolarz, and Woll has a lot of potential.
Honestly just try something new on the PP. keep only Mathews and Nylander, bring Knies to the net front, add Domi in Marners spot, switch Max to Willys wing, and swap Mo out for OEL for Christs sake!
Literally anything, try anything new. The second unit looks good!
Great game tonight.
Top 6 outside of Knies was pretty bang fucking average, nice shot from Johnny Taipan. Bottom 6 look engaged and working. I think eventually a Lily+Kampf for an overpaid 3C will happen, shifting Homer to the 4th line, where his skill will probably be better suited. D look strong, and the Beast was very solid. Special teams need work, even strength looks great.
Hildebeast played fantastic tonight
I’m not sure how Knies can even skate with those massive balls weighing him down. Dude looks ready to start dominating.
Loving the physicality from mitch
(and the dumbfuckery from willy who has been DOGSHIT so far). People starting to see him for what he really is.
Idk why but goalies just look so good against the leafs. There’s something about their play style that just makes the other teams goalies shine. We’re constantly putting good shot totals but the saves just look effortless
Guys Lorentz seems like the best 4th liner we’ve had in ages, his post game interview was solid too, we need a guy like him in the room
Tanev is who old management thought Brodie was
*willy slaps the puck away in frustration after taking a well deserved dumbfuck unforced penalty*
« stop fucking crying bro »
Great game overall. The boys worked hard all over the ice.
Refs continue to be garbage.
Marc Savard, back to the drawing board. The PP is horrific.
