@Maple Leafs de Toronto

  1. I’ve always picked on matthews and here is why ,,,, he is a big lad and he has to play that big ,,,,, he’s more then a shot cross ice or is he , let’s see if he is willing to get nasty and sacrifice on every inch of the arena

  2. I posted a bit earlier a comment on the Oilers' ugly midweek loss to the Jets although it's also worth noting that unlike the Leafs in either of their games so far this week, the Canucks didn't play all that well even with having earned a point in an OT loss to the Flames. It'll be interesting to find out which of the Canadian teams whose front offices are this season aiming to qualify for playoff action (basically all but the Flames and Habs) will actually qualify and how far in that postseason those teams that do qualify will go.

  3. Same hype every year just different topics or people. Leaf team is not good enough to win the cup. Shilling at its finest

  4. Matthews needs to drop gloves once to show he means business and captain of this team. Don’t break hand but at least fake it.

  5. Yes …more cycling …more board play .. they seem to be playing a slower paced more methodical style …looks more like big boy hockey meant for the playoffs . 👍

  6. The Leafs liked to play on the periphery. Not go after the greasy goal. Berube is trying to correct that mindset.

  7. It's only a very small sample size, but the compete level on average, seema to be much higher than last year or any year since the dougie or mats eras.

  8. Ullmark's "economical" tending style sounds similar to Oettinger which is a good sign.

  9. Not sure what they are doing on the PP. 1. You pass around quickly and take the shot. They clearly are confused by Savards tactics.

  10. The Leafs now play a boring brand of hockey. Insomniacs at the games will be happy.

  11. After two games, all you can say is the Leaf goaltending has been hot, and the scoring cold. Two games isn't long enough to say either is significant yet. If they can keep the defensive play up there in the clouds (GAA of 1.5), that would be hugely significant. Offensively, the reverse is true – the so-called 'big 4' have only out the puck in the net once. That needs to change ASAP. Leafs usually score a lot of goals and give up a lot of goals. So far this year they're not scoring much, but letting even less in the net. But, really, two games is just the beginning.
The most significant thing in terms of the league I've seen so far this year is yet another increase in the hype before the season's opening game. It's getting a bit much!

  12. One thing that hasn't changed for Toronto occurred against Montreal

How many times have we heard this? :We could and should have won?. Try , like every playoff. They are very content to constantly take shots from the outside hitting posts and the goalie himself. It is absolutely insane. Watch what Florida and Boston do under the same circumstance. They will crash the net. Bring in two guys to screen the goalie. Swarm the net and shoot from the point for the tip or screen. Why haven't our guys learned this yet. The old definition of insanity. And will usually be successful.

  13. Yeah I noticed Berube's changes in his first ever game, when their "not being shutout" record (which was a month away from being the all-time record, beating a Gretzky roster) was ended by a bottom-feeding team with the league's youngest defense and a middle-of-the-pack goalie.

  14. Too early, gotta play a few weeks and let everyone sink into the new systems and sus out the line chemistry. No one wins the cup in October

  15. So far, I like what I see. I believe they should have won the game against Montreal. Hot goaltender! They seem bigger and stronger this year which is something they needed badly.

  16. Berube is trying to turn swords into hand grenades. The Leafs are designed for his game. Wait till Marner tries to $12.5 million for 65 pts!

  17. With the core four dominating the payroll, it’s going ti be very difficult to build a well rounded championship lineup. ✔️
