Caps lose I’m unhappy
Kinda bullshit that it’s the devils 4th game and our 1st but okay
Yup… another season…. Let’s hope Roy isn’t out long term.
Atleast we did better than our last home opener.

Honestly can’t complain too much agianst a team with legit Stanley cup aspirations who is already fully into the swing of things vs caps first game. Schedule makers suck for this beginning of the season.
Some good things. Some bad things.
It is what it is. First game of the year they put up a decent effort and showed drive. But they’ve gotta really clean up the penalties and they couldn’t hang with New Jersey’s speed well.
But they’ve also played 3 more games than us already. So eh, I’m not losing sleep over it tonight
Not a bad showing at all considering NJ was already on their fourth game of the season.
Sucks to lose but there’s a decent amount to be OK with here… Team looked solid all in all considering time since their last preseason game and the Devils were already on their 4th game of the year. That Ovechkin hit at the end was nice, awesome to see he can still do that…

3rd line a fucking disaster. Time to mix it up.
So, in my head, I wanted Cristall on the line with Ovi and Strome (I think he would thrive with Strome’s high IQ) and then Mangiapane could be shuffled to the 3rd line. But Vrana doesn’t work on that 1st line, because his speed, his best quality, would be wasted. So I don’t know what to do about the defense of the 3rd line.
The result was sub-optimal, but Caps were generally non-awful. A few games under the belt and they’ll have tightened up.
In conclusion, we’re winning the Cup.

I thought McMichael looked really good tonight. I felt like he created a few chances out of nothing and had a nice assist on Wilson’s goal.

They’re called the devils because theyre uhhh a bunch of no-goodniks. They really « bedeviled » the washington capitals hockey club tonight. They’re just downright not nice. They really uhhhh flagellated my soul out there

I knew they didn’t stand a chance against when I saw their home opener was against a team that’s played three games already 😭 Anyways, I’m feeling better than I did after the home opener last year so that’s something.
Devils are a good team and they’re coming off a loss so they were hungry and also warmed up. Good thing is that our offseason acquisitions all look good, especially Dubois and Chychrun. Bad thing is that Ovi was unusable tonight. If he’s playing like this all season, we’re essentially shorthanded every night.
I was there in-person so I couldn’t see everything but enjoyed how physical Dubois was
I was there. Chychrun, mangiapane, raddysh, and Roy are all great players. Raddysh is fast.
PLD had a good welcome too, I think he and Tom are going to open up a lot of lanes for mcmichael if they keep that line.
I think it was a great game. Still shaking the dust off.
