Lors du match du 13 octobre 2024 entre les Jets de Winnipeg et le Wild du Minnesota, Mark Scheifele a marqué un but critique directement après une victoire en mise au jeu d’Adam Lowry avec seulement 1,5 seconde à jouer en première période. Ce but a égalisé le match 1-1, marquant un changement d’élan important pour les Jets. Le jeu bien exécuté a vu Scheifele faire exploser la rondelle devant le gardien de but du Wild, Filip Gustavsson, donnant aux Jets l’élan dont ils avaient besoin pour finalement remporter une victoire de 2-1 en prolongation.

I was at the game. Refs broke the unwritten rule. Bogosian was just barely holding his stick and the refs call it with 1.1 seconds left in the 3rd period, game tied 1-1. I get that it was a penalty but that’s just something you dont call in that situation.

In the NBA, if the shot is in the air when the buzzer goes, the point is counted. Would be interesting to implement a similar rule in the NHL if there is an empty net involved.
