  1. Let him play out the season, then let him walk. Unless someone makes an offer you can't refuse, then I say move him, and run with Quick and Garand.

  2. Typically when we see a big number that was decline, the real contract end up just a little bit higher than that, like Swayman signing for 8.25M$ instead of 8M$. Igor could totally end up signing for 11.5M$ instead of 11M$.

  3. i wish athletes weren't so greedy. no amount is ever enough for these penny pinchers

  4. I'm a Lightning fan, but I was a tween when the Rangers ended their Stanley Cup title drought in the mid-'90s. I'm not sure how this situation with Igor Shesterkin ends. The Rangers do need to make sure they can still build a team with while paying Shesterkin a boatload of money.

  5. As good as Igor is and he is a phenomenal goalie.
The investment is not worth it. To tie up that kind of money for almost a decade with no guarantees of producing a cup is not a smart investment.
I rather have a better defense that makes the goalie life easier than to have a kamikaze (do or die) goalie making spectacular saves.
Last payoffs with the FL series was proof that no matter how good your goalie is you need a sound D#. Igor cannot sustain that kind of pressure with teams like FL and BOS and CA , NYI if he doesn't have a good D# in front of him.

  6. Shouldn't be a nightmare at all. UFAs come and go all the time. If a player is just too pricey, just move on to another one.

  7. no one is above the team and untouchable. teams win with mediocre goalies if they have the right pieces in front. igor is a generational talent but the team cannot go for a hank 2.0 tour.

  8. Igor is simply not worth it – no Goalie is and the fact that hes not willing to take even a slight discount for the bettermint of the team screams that he does not want to win a cup in NY. In other words its Hank all over again.

  9. This makes life easy for Drury imo. That's a phenomenal offer and since it's turned down, now the choice is go for it and lose him for nothing this summer OR offload at the deadline for a monstrous package and make sure to receive a serviceable goalie in it to run a timeshare with a capable team in front of it. Take all that money saved and sign Laffy/Miller this summer. Then in summer of '26, when Panarin deal expires, you have a wealth of cap space to rebuild on warp speed.

  10. Why should Igor give Rangers a discount? It's not his local childhood team or anything, he is a foreign player who came here for money, and he will get more than $11 mil/yr for sure, the question is will it be from Rangers or from another team.

  11. He's good, but goalies (which I myself play) are replaceable. Defence wins Stanley cups and makes goalies look good.. they've won nothing with him so, maybe not worth more than 8 to 9 mill a season

  12. Suck it up rangers ! He's your franchise player , and clearly worth more than anyone else on that team. Do the math ,stop crying and pay the man what he deserves!!

  13. Take a bit less money and play in NYC the media and advertising capital of the world and make up the difference. Sure wining a cup is the ultimate goal but cash is king. Nightlife a bit better in NYC than Northern Canada.

  14. Wings/Panthers fan here. Barky being out sucks but it is nice to see Cam Talbot putting on a clinic last night. Interesting season thus far.

  15. I want Shers to get to UFA and sign with the Panthers after Bob wins a second Stanley Cup and retire.
