  1. Pretty much agree with those comments that you read off. I still say, however, that you have to change the coaching staff. There’s really no way to truly know how the team is until that is done. How many teams recently have changed their coaching staff and turned around their seasons? exactly.

  2. 4 games in and people are losing their minds. The fan base could use a culling. We lost 2 against one of last year's best teams, move on.

  3. Don't think everything is falling apart but way too many free agents. We have a team of free agents. Go ahead list off those who are not, but then look at the ones who are and who they are blocking from coming up. could be two or three years before we make a dent in the playoffs with this roster. Thank you for you post.

  4. Steve is not the problem,it’s the defense and the goalie right now that are not getting their groove together.and besides people are panicking that we lost 3 games with only 4 games into the season not enough to start worrying yet just not enough.it’s going to take a while to get their momentum and theirs rhythm and chemistry going

  5. Lol its always the people who get immediatly triggered that say they would be happy if the team tanked for picks, i dont think they would be happy

  6. Last season was fun atleast, but who didn't see this dumpster fire coming from afar? Wings are looking like the worst team in the eastern conference.

  7. I’ve been saying this about Yzerman for a while now. As much as I hate drafting 10-15 every year just look at a team like Buffalo. They are just as bad as us and they are playing all their rookies. They even traded one of their high end prospects for a bottom six guy and that still hasn’t helped them. We aren’t the only team suffering from bad goaltending and average defense. Even Colorado and Edmonton are dealing with these things and they were supposed to be cup favorites. Sure a PP merchant like panarin can light us up during the regular season but look what happened in the conference final. No where to be found and the fans wanted him gone after they lost. This league is very hard to find success in.

  8. While I think there are flaws, I think fans are generally panicking far too early in the season. I think some criticism is valid, I think maybe Lalonde is reaching the point of being replaced (if he's not already there). Just because the Winged Wheel is running flat right now doesn't mean they're not gonna get some air in that tire, maybe even soon.

But no, that doesn't mean "the Yzerplan is falling apart". Yzerman and his plan are just fine. If we suck this year, fine. Think of it as an opportunity to finally win that draft lottery we should've won in 2020 (though, let's face it, drafting Raymond was a damn good runner-up prize). After all the steps forward we've taken as an organization, there's bound to be a step back at some point. That's fine. Circle back around and maybe get ourselves another top prospect.

  9. No chemistry. Explain to me how you let a 20 goal scorer in Daniel Sprong go and replace him with a journeyman marginal NHL forward in Tyler Mott? And Mott signed for more money than Strong did in Vancouver. Who's the tuff guy on the Wings? Oh, ya, nobody. Fisher? He tries but he ain't. They got rid of Klim Kostin for nothing, and he was a heart and sole passionate player who stuck up for team mates. These aren't players who command big contracts. Gostisbehere and Perron, gone. Replaced by who? The team chemistry was stripped away by these moves. Really bad moves.

  10. Do you remember when we lost 8 in a row , with hof er s nick Lindstrom, sergi, shannahan, festiov, larinov, YZERMAN in 1997 !!!!? Who won the cup that year, remember there's a lot of new players young kids that have to develop chemistry and get used to each other on the ice to the point where they know when and where to set them up for guaranteed goals i,e the power play, and far as the coach goes he doesn't know how to teach them to play suffocating defense once we get a SERIOUS defensive physically minded coach look out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I think it's a combo of Lalonde and Yzerman. Lalonde can't get the guys going and he keeps switching up the lines like crazy, their is no chance for chemistry. Game 1 was horrible with missed assignments. Game 2 was great though we lost Fisher in that one. Game 3 I thought it was gonna be the same lines as game 2 with someone just taking Fisher spot but man was I wrong, he switched up everything yet again. Then everyone just looked like they didn't know their assignments out there. Game 4 was more of the same. I will say I thought game 3 was closer than the score says, we did get kinda goalied in that one but it happens from time to time, and not taking away any credit to NY goaltending, it's been good. And Yzerman, enough with the sign every free agent you can. Detroit used to have some loyalty to our own. Sure we often times over cooked players in minors, but they would get there eventually. Now, that's not the case, they asking for trades or going overseas to play since they not getting their due shot in the NHL.
I've been a die hard Wings fan my whole life, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. We've had a lot of ugly lately and I was excited for this season seeing how we have slowly progressed better last 3 years with last year losing out on playoffs due to tie breaker. I'm starting to have doubts already, and it's still super early season, it's concerning.

  12. The fact that this team has little cap space and looks like they do, does not look good on the GM. They have 2 4th lines. Why can't Copp sit out a game or two. Let Kasper play. Ras is the forth liner all day. Veleno, Fischer bring nothing. Don't mind Copher if he's your 3rd center. Alot of goals went out the door this off season' and the teams defence will get no better with these slow slugs. Really need to get lucky in the draft and find a true star goal scorer…soon!

  13. Jeff petry and eric gustafsson are the worst moves stevie has made. I didn't think I would've seen defenseman worse than jonathon ericsson, yet here we are.

  14. They lost against New York the first time because of Shesterkin and then lost the second time because of Panarin (and the rest of the team jumping in and following his lead). In this game I would say they owned like the first 10 minutes then New York scored 1, woke up, and owned the rest of the hockey game. They took too many penalties and their penalty kill was pathetic and they aren't outscoring their problems like last year (at least not right now). Offense can have ups and downs, guys get hot and guys get cold. That's why teams with good defense typically win more games and cups. But the other issue is that just because they faced a President Trophy winner two games in a row doesn't mean they should have two Ls. You gotta figure out how to win some games against good teams if you want to make the playoffs. Also while it doesn't look too good for their goalie situation that Talbot let in so many they also in typical fashion hung him out to dry. They keep doing this thing where they don't fix their defensive issues both on the front and backend and expect a goalie they sign to stand on their head for them for the whole season, but they're not even signing a guy like Shesterkin or Ullmark or someone like that, they're signing goalies that perform well when the team is performing well and getting surprised when he gets burnt out having to play out of his mind in net every night. Honestly I think they carry three goalies so that when one of them gets burnt out they replace their corpse in net with the next one until that one's destroyed too.

  15. Yzerman is a poor evaluator and does not clear room for young players to play. And, apparently, he hired a defense first coach that has resulted in some of the worst, laziest defensive breakdowns I've seen this season besides buffalo.

I love some of the players they have, so it sucks to see them struggle. On the other hand, im a petty blues fan so I'm loving this.

  16. A couple of months ago, I thought Steve was building a monster?? Haha, I'm not worried… yet. As a general rule, I throw the first ten games out the window. Is there a chemistry problem? Of course, there are a lot of new parts to integrate! After ten games, if guys aren't playing well together, that's when you have a real problem. Has coach lost the room? I've no idea: I'm not in the room. Last night was a coach-killer of a game if it happens deeper in the season, but again: now is not the time to panic. This is a transitional year: we'll see more prospects playing in the NHL and some big contracts expiring at the end of the year ($$$). I'm not concerned with Y or Coach Lalonde: I'm wondering if our prospects will pan-out and if we'll use cap space to sign a dynamic wing (assuming Berggren doesn't score enough to play in the top six). We need a true 2C: if that's Danielson, we're in business (Compher, who is very good, is ideally a 3C). We need a dynamic RHD who can run the PP: if that's ASP in, we're in business. We need a true 1A starting goalie: if that's Cossa (or Augustine), we're in business. Who knows where Marco will play in the lineup for the long-haul?? We need to find out if Johansson is going to be that cheap, reliable defensive defenseman we've needed in the bottom pairing. And that's why this is a transitional year: there are a lot of unknowns and placeholders. Y inherited a franchise that was in disarray: now, there's hope. But hope is nothing more than unfulfilled promise: it'll take time to see what that hope turns into. For now, I say give the team a chance to gel. Let's at least get to November before we demand rolling heads. Fair?
