I genuinely think Nuge needs to be dealt at the deadline, 6.25 million dollars needs to be at least able to drive some plays and Nuge hasn’t done that in the last year and a bit, plenty of options on the table at that price who can really take this team over the edge.
This does feel like a bit of a back breaking season and in order to salvage yet another horrible start I think it’s time to do some hard things.
Kane’s LTIR needs to be used to make some moves for a top 4 RD.
Rare of course but if you can package Dermott, Stetcher, J. Brown and any prospect you need (Savoie aside) to make a trade. I don’t think there is any way to move nurse unfortunately, even though that would be the best option.
Nuge needs to ride the pine or briefly join the 3rd/4th line. He can’t cut it as a centre though.
Hyman and the PP need to be picking up their pace. Faster zone entries and crash the frickin net!
Nuge needs to come off the PP1 for skinner too.

The overtime goal was so upsetting. It was basically a 3 on 1 because Edmonton just stopped skating and defending.
The skinner windmill save being undone seconds later by Janmark tripping over nothing is tragic
Older slower and I noticed and was pointed out, they are a lot smaller, they get pushed around, I know Carolina is a bigger team, really showed yesterday

The only superstar we have is Connor McDavid……..the rest, especially Leon…….are grossly overrated.
I don’t like “the wave” either. Watching the game on TV, I find it very distracting. And for the people at the game, they must be diverting their attention from the game. So did they buy expensive tickets to watch hockey or to watch other fans and get ready for when it is their time to lift their arms???

And yes overtime was 'depressing', McDrai + Bouch should win any OT, and not lose possession by sloppy passes. The Oilers' passing has to be way 'straighter', 'stronger', with gut push behind the puck and not just 'fancy' touches. McDrai needs to select 1) ALWAYS a shot when they have a look 2) a 'safe' pass when they can find one and 3) only as a last resort a fancy passing. Right now their order is 3, 2, 1
And I agree with you, lots of Oilers fans are 'same as last year, we make it'. There is NO GUARANTEE the Oilers can pull a 16 win streak, and they should wake up and fight to the bone NOW and not in January. Anything can happen, McDavid or Drai can get 'injurded', Stu can stay 'bad' for many games in Jan-Feb, and then the whole season is gone, no play-offs. This is not about panic-ing, it is about 'managing' your assets. Who would want to start a pension-fund when they are 60??? That's how the Oilers are acting by 'counting' on a 20 games streak to fix this f-ed up season start!
When the fans do the wave, you can shake sum buns, that way you don’t notice, win-win situation
In the first 6-7 mins of the 3rd. McDavid had 4 opportunities in odd man rushes to take a shot in scoring from distance positions like he did in with a wicked shot in 1st period. Every single time he forced a pass. And it was instantly going back the other way. 4 chances to basically end the comeback. Sitting on a hat trick goal he simply refuses. It’s like he hates scoring now! With such a struggle to score so far why not take matters into his own hands ffs? So much happened in this game that lead to the loss, but if the captain wanted, he simply wins this game whether deserved through the fancy stats or not. God knows Stu deserved better in this one!
