    The 18:40 mark slightly precedes the beginning of discussion of Petey the centre. Although he has yet to this regular season score goal he has put up points in each of his last two games, and the per-season cap hit, at over US$11 million, is huge, it may be that he will over the next couple of games score his first non-preseason goal in months. Connor McDavid, whose per-season cap hit is US$12.5 million through to June 2026, scored his first non-preseason goal, following the 2024 Stanley Cup final, last week on Thursday Pacific Daylight Time at Bridgestone Arena against the Preds and this week Tuesday PDT would go onto score his first non-preseason post-June 2024 goal on home ice against the Canes (with that goal having featured an assist from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins a.k.a. Nuge). McDavid would score another, with that goal assisted by Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard. That game would turn into for their team an OT loss, with the game-winning goal having been scored with just seven seconds to go in OT.

    Yeah, buyouts are generally bad. OEL went on to win a cup with Florida, and is currently running the Leafs PP1, ahead of Morgan Rielly. He would be an upgrade on the puck-moving talents of Brannstrom and we are paying him either way. What's the downside?
