I dont know guys he is a 30 goal scorer. My guess is $5.5–$6 Million.
Im going to be disappointed if its any more than 4 mil AAV.
Tavares will get a lower payday at least half of what he is currently making if not more than half look at him in playoffs the last two years not the greatest even getting a round winning goal he was not the greatest that round either marner will not get his raise either he will be getting cut to
And you can't say all because of last night winning we still lost three straight last week

4-5 × 4 or 5 years is well worth it. If you say that's an over pay you don't know hockey. Even 2 yrs a 6 mil aav is worth it. But long term is gonna need to be around 4 to 5. If he hit the open market he's getting 7×3 all day.
At some point you've got to get younger. There are going to be younger UFAs who have won, available this off season. Lets play this season out, put the cheque book away.

I think issues of the so-called "core four" should be about individuals, not all four. In particular Tavares, who is at a later stage in his career, deserves individual consideration. So — for just a moment — let's put aside the others. No one is perfect, but I've noticed Tavares has shown leadership. Over his career has taken a lot of punishment as an "in front of the net" forward. When people say over and over that he's "slow," well, maybe that's what happens to players who show up as gritty in big games. Remember that horrific injury he suffered in the playoff round against Montreal several years ago? He does keep scoring year after year, and if his points are not as glamourous as those of the rest of the "core," they still count! Since he's shown willingness to change his role and accept a lower salary, I'd say go ahead with the contract now.

JT going to re-sign for $9-12M for 3-4 years, so I'm thinking a $3M AAV. He is definitely not hurting for money so it is possible, imo, in order to keep his family and himself in his hometown.

I can see Tavares hitting 60 points this year 🤷♂️ even if he misses a few games or is a nothing on the stat sheet he'll be able to do it.
I mean he was on pace for about 60 points before lastnights hat-trick and the top scorers for the team was #1 marner, #2 nylander, #3 matthews, tavares and knies at #4.
Now its marner, nylander, tavares and matthews. I mean he wont keep this pace up all year, but a couple games like last night and he'll hit 60 no problem.
