I don’t. I find it weird teams name these young skilled kids captain. Leaders need experience IMO
shmoove_cwiminal
Dude has played one 82 game schedule in the NHL. Hard to believe there were no better candidates on that roster.

If you dont like this choice you’re not a Habs fan
Gumdrop90
None of us have been in that room. To say you know someones value as a leader would be a lie. This is Montreal, they don’t make these decisions lightly. I’m sure the kid would go through a wall for all the guys in that room. I hate the fu**in Habs by the way.

Personally I would’ve gone a few more seasons with no captaincy and let him get a few more years under his belt, but I think he’s probably the best choice currently, especially if they plan on getting rid of Gallagher sooner rather than later
tritongamez
I like the kid, I hope he does well as captain.

Suzuki has been a previous captain in his junior years and led his team to a finals. He’s most definitely a lead by example and a presence in the locker room kinda guy. I believe this was the best choice and to have a player commited to this organization with this kind of skill, it will surely keep good players in Montreal
Background-Morning-9
Gallagher should’ve got the C for me, but hopefully Nick does well

This makes the VGK trade for patches even worse… Ugh. He would have been a good fit with the team if they never traded him.
GregPauldry
Grats to him. Who knows, even though he’s young, he might have great leadership skills

Serious lack of choices lol

Great choice! Eye on the future too. Love it even though as another said, got no skin in the game apart from as an NHL fan.
True_Acadia_4045
Totally agree. Love the youth movement on this team.
BvG_Venom
I’m honestly surprised that’s it. I know a lot of them had it for most of their careers but that still seems like a low number

Young star with plenty of upside…and really, who else do they have? 😄

I think it’s the right decision. The team has an unprecedented amount of leeway in the fanbase and media right now. Everyone can see what happened they last couple of years, the shine hasn’t come off Gorton and Hughes yet, there’s a lot of young talent, the fans are actually all in on the rebuild and invested in a high pick in this year’s draft. MSL is still the darling of the media and fans.
If there is ever a time to put a young captain in to get him used to the job in Montreal, it’s now. Any other year, I’d be against it, as the fans and media are too tough. I think this coming year is likely to be the softest the media and fans have ever been on the team. Weber is gone, Price is gone, many of the older players are in some level of perpetual injury. Anyone with a brain can look at our back end and between the pipes and see it’s going to be a VERY work in progress with lots of learning on the job. As long as the team plays entertaining hockey, and fans can are actual progress and development amongst the losses, I think this could be ones of the most positive seasons in Montreal since the cup or Koivu’s return. Fans love Slaf, Suze and Goal Caufield. There’s a lot of intriguing prospects that could really capture fans interest once they see them more consistently.
Goldenface007
This poor kid is gonna be broken by the end of the season.
Mangoes95
It’s been obvious for a while though I thought? You don’t bring the guy up onto the stage with you, for possibly the biggest draft pick in team history, if you’re NOT going to make him captain.
SoBeefy
I once read MTL had a tradition of the players selecting their captain. Did that happen with Suzuki?
xQuinchien
hey thats the wrong patch here , the habs lost some of his prestige today . Take exemple from EDM

Love that he’s the first Asian captain since Kariya

No news on Papa Shea though? Very very happy for heem ❤️

Haven’t watched much of his play but he strikes as a Bergeron in the making so I can’t say I’m surprised he got this. Best of luck to him, man, he’s gonna be real good.

I miss Saku Koivu (C) so much

Lmao what a joke this franchise is

I really like the way that kid plays. Is he a Captain? I don’t know, I’m not around the team enough to know that. But he is definitely a good player.

I’m a weird hockey fan because I knew Arizona my home state had a team but because I was a Green Bay fan and became a fan because of Green Bays history I wanted to follow an old team. None really caught my eye, then Vegas came along and offered a unique mix of desert hockey that wasn’t a league laughing stock so I fell in love with them. But I still have a soft spot for just about every team because I just loved learning about them. I have family near Boston so I like the Bruins, I loved the Red Wings vs Avalanche rivalry so of course I loved Stevie and rooted for them because F Claude Lemieux, Montreal I just liked because I’m French-Irish and that early history and legacy was just fantastic, Rangers I just liked because their uniforms, colors and fanbase was so inviting and nice, Blackhawks I liked because of a friend and hell even Toronto whom I love to hate but have a lot of respect for has some really fun history so yeah he’ll I just love this game.

Next up, Yanni Gourde of Seattle Kraken for Captain.
FinicalPenny453
Why not Gallagher?
