Wallstedt got surprised by that first sharp angle shot but so far looks good.
Rossi is 3 for 3 on faceoffs that I’ve seen.

Is the hawks goalie Robb Stauber’s kid?
SDBassCreature
The Chicago announcer keeps pronouncing Wallstedt like the first letter is a V. Is that accurate? I thought it was pronounced just like it looks.

A POWERPLAY GOAL??? THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

I think that’s the first face-off Rossi lost tonight. Gotta be like 5 for 6 or something around there.

It is so nice to be able to watch some sort of Wild hockey again.
SDBassCreature
Any particular reason Brock Faber wasn’t included in the prospect squad?
SDBassCreature
TWO powerplay goals?!??! Is that allowed?

Beckman feels like he could have the it factor to be a real NHL talent, but he also feels like the kind of player who would only thrive as a top 6 forward. We don’t really have room to give him a real shot in our lineup.

Firstov!

How did Rossi look? Wasn’t able to watch the game

was that Rob Stauber’s kid in goal?

Wallstedt – 1st goal was soft/sharp angle that caught him off guard. I think the one soft goal he gave up during WJC was sort of similar and think announcer mentioned that was the book on him right now. Other goal he had little to no chance. He made at least two highlight reel saves.
Firstov – best skater for the wild. played with some skill but wasnt trying to do too much. He’s a more mature player (21) and the way he plays probably lends itself to an ad hoc game like this more.
Rossi – flashed some skill a few times but didnt amount to much. Caught a loose puck out of mid air with his and quickly controlled for what could have been a chance in offensive zone but was tightly checked.
Ryan O’rourke – won an absolutely relentless board battle in offensive zone at one point. i thought there was 0 chance he’d win + hold the zone.
Lambos – twice on the same PP he had blueline turnovers that resulted in high danger shorthanded rushes – one which required a big Wallstedt save.
Beckman – pretty physical all game. obviously scored goal but couldnt really see how it happened
Sammy walker – had opportunity for a puck race against retreating defenseman that I thought maybe could have resulted in a chance. either he isnt as fast as I thought or he just didnt turn on the jets
Simon Johansson and David Spacek – both made some really bad passes.
This is just random stuff I noticed. Most of its probably meaningless unless its part of a continuing trend.
Possible trends in my head:
1.) Wallstedt being surprised by sharp angle shots but also being unrattled and solid as a rock on everything else.
2.) O’rourke – super high intensity
3.) Lambos – bad decisions and/or panic resulting in high danger chances. he was in bad situations and under a lot of pressure on those turnovers but i think he could have just dumped the puck in , probably trying to hard to make a play on PP. This is coming off of the WJC where he got perma-benched after the game against Latvia where his decision-making was suspect. It takes defensemen longer to develop and I think this sort of thing is part of thereason why but I would guess we can also say he’s probably never gonna be like Jonas Brodin.

Respectfully, there’s only one Tom Kurvers prospect and it’s Scott Niedermayer.
