Love Kyrou, but hope he shows a little better in the second half of this year. Gotta trust in doug tho

  2. United_Foundation187

Kyrou is a dynamic talent. Looking forward to watching this guy for a long time

Ya know what i like it.

If he doesnt pan out to the value of the contract then we arent making the cup anyway with our aging core.

If he gets better its a steal and we can build a team around a player on a good value contract.

I would have been more comfortable with a shorter term, but I’m technically not an NHL GM.

  5. GET IN HERE EVERYONE GET THE FUCK IN HERE

THIS IS THE FUTURE OF OUR CITY, BOYS

  6. bleedblue002

K & T matching contracts huh? Where have I heard that before? Does this come with three Cups as well?

  7. 1967Miura

Do I have some worries about defense? Yes

    Do I care? Hell no

    #JORDAN FUCKING KYROU

  8. scrivensB

Amazing deal if he can develop his defensive game and get stronger.

    If not, eh.

  9. Hotstreak

Fuck yes he and Robtom are the future.

Call me a naysayer but unless he becomes a wayyyy better two way player AND becomes stronger on the puck, this is a horrible deal. He’s got a ton of work to do. I hope he does it but he’s way overrated so far in his career.

  11. He reminds me of a kid I played beer league hockey with back in the day. Just complete chaos, tons of unnecessary movement, but he’s somehow fast AF and can dangle around people. He’s cleaned-up a bit since he broke through, so hopefully that trend continues for EIGHT EFFIN YEARS.

If we’re getting pre-AllStar break Kyrou, sweet.

If we’re getting late season Kyrou, fade me now

  13. PizzaButWhoseBiden

Fuck yeah man. Kyrou is the shit.

  14. bleedblue89

    Well… that’s a thing… I’m excited

Hopefully buying low here. He’s still got a lot to do to develop into a 200 foot player.

  16. Caffeine_Cowpies

This is just continuing the trend of NHL teams locking up their potential RFAs that they know they want to extend. It’s a good deal, he just needs consistency.

A lot of money and term for a guy the coach publicly calls out all the time.

I think he will be worth 8mil, but keywords are think and will.

Hopefully he does, because we’re « all in » these next few years with a lot of money tied up in Faulk Krug Parayko Thomas Kyrou Schenn Binnington. Gonna need our next wave of Thomas’ Kyrou’s stepping up. Hopefully that’s neighbours this year and Bolduc/others soon.

I’m honestly surprised about how negative some of the reception to this deal has been. He put up 75 points in 74 games in his first full NHL season. Tarasenko surpassed that point total for the first time in his entire career last year. Yeah, he faded in the second half, but I would be shocked to not see him be better prepared for the long haul next year. Kyrou is very clearly the most talented homegrown player we’ve had in my lifetime, and I’m super excited to see what he and Thomas can do throughout the rest of their primes

What cures any ills on this contract for me is how Kyrou scored some big goals in the playoffs and really seemed to embrace, rather then shrink, from the moment

I have a feeling in 2 or 3 years both this and the Thomas contract are gonna seem like steals

  20. The Kyrou-Thomas line is going to be the new perfection line in like 2 years.

  21. basedgodsenpai

Inject this shit straight into my veins. I don’t even care about the terms tbh, him and RobThom for another 8 years is gonna be magic. If we can figure out the defensive end then we’re even better off

  22. I love me some Thomas and Kyrou, but this guarantees Tarasenko will be a UFA. I know opinions of him are mixed, but we’re losing an awful lot of veteran leadership very quickly. I find that mildly concerning.

  23. frankensteinleftme

Kid line is going to grow old together

  24. omgimabagel

Not a hot take here but I obviously don’t mind Kyrou staying with Thomas on matching deals but man I hope the cap goes up even a little. Kyrou could very well be one of the best so I wouldn’t want him walking away either way but he’s definitely gotta learn to play through/avoid physicality more often and be a bit more consistent overall. Obviously I have faith he’ll figure that out.

Thomas and Kyrou contracts could look really good in a few years if the cap goes up a bit for sure, but for now I will drop to my knees and pray that our dad ROR is kept through all of this.

  25. wolffire99

For somebody with as high of ceiling as Kyrou I’m pretty shocked he would want that kind of term. It’s great for the Blues though.

  26. Kyrou and Thomas, the two pillars of the franchise in the future. All but guarantees Tarasenko and Barbashev are gone after this season. Only question is where does this leave O’Reilly? The core is starting to take shape after the « 5 year window » this season.
