Did the MTL player get a suspension for this? A lowbridge is a cheap shot to begin with, but then to do it when leading 10-1 is a new level of dirty.

  2. roscomikotrain

Agree with everything the announcer said

  3. FinkBass420

Iginla had such fucking fire in his soul when he played. I’ll forever miss that man in a Flames jersey

  4. uuhhhhggg

I was there for that game and holy fuck what a way to end the night

  5. gobfinger

That was a real bonehead move from Emelin, but the reason he wouldn’t fight is because he stopped fighting after sustaining a brutal facial injury back in ’09:

« During a 2009 playoff game, while playing with Kazan AK-Bars in the Kontinental Hockey League, Emelin got into a fight with Alexander Svitov, who rearranged Emelin’s face. Emelin was left face down, bleeding profusely on the ice after taking a couple solid punches to the face.
Emelin had a concussion, a broken nose and needed facial reconstruction. Now he has several metal plates under his left eye. »

I love a big hit. But commentary is spot on here

  7. Fastsmitty47

I get what he’s saying. I believe in playing till the buzzer, but a 10-1 game with 4 minutes left is not a great time to throw a big hit

  8. tcrex2525

There’s always THAT guy, at every level. Even in beer league there’s always one asshole that plays like it’s his shot in the show, and can’t control himself.

  9. Dr_Isaly_von_Yinzer

That’s easy to fix. Emelin won’t fight? Fine. You run Carey Price right through the back of his own net at the first opportunity.

That’ll catch everyone’s attention and Montreal will immediately take care of it.

  10. GetAwayFromMeYouFish

It feels so weird seeing number 8 on the Avs and it not being Makar

  11. Hockey_socks

I remember this game, Emelin was awesome. What a wrecking ball. Man could hit. As for whether or not he should be throwing hits at that point of the game? … it’s the NHL ain’t it? This isn’t beer league.

  12. Nashtak

Lots of soccer fans in this comment section lmao

  13. Awkward-Fortune1447

Tries to start fights then hides lol smash his booty in the next game

  14. FromFluffToBuff

He’s 100% correct. There is NO CHANCE that Colorado is going to win the game… and there is no reason to throw a hit like that when your team is up by *nine goals.* The commentator’s reaction – and Iginla’s rage – was justified.

  15. No_Joke_568

Avs legend Andreas Martinsen making an appearance

  16. Falcon3492

Giving a hit like that with 3 1/2 minutes left, in a 10-1 game when your teams leading is a chicken s–t play. Then to hide behind your goalie without facing the music, the guy is a coward!

  17. ObiWan_Cannoli_

What game is this preseason? Surely this couldn’t have been during an avs regular season game ho hum nothing happened that year

  18. Imagine hiding behind your goalie…what a poon.

  19. uncorderdnole91

I mean it’s true but some people play until there’s no time left.

  20. allyourhomebase

100% true statement. Don’t need to make that hit in that game.

  21. Cilreve

I mean, in one regard I get what he’s saying. Dangerous hits are unnecessary when the game is basically over. You’re not proving anything. You’re not trying to change the momentum of the game. It’s not a playoff game. It is just a regular season game. But at the same time, I hate it when a competitor doesn’t give all against me. Play it 100% from buzzer to buzzer. It’s part of the game. But if you’re going to play hard, then fucking stand up and take your licks. If you’re going to give a pointless, dangerous hit in a won game, then don’t be a coward and fight.

  22. Rustyguts257

Emelin was hesitant to fight because he had a bad facial injury earlier in his career. The injury left him with very weak bone structure around his eyes and nose. It was common knowledge at the time and I am surprised the commentator didn’t know of the condition. That said the hit, while clean, was over the top given the score

  23. Williamson_lol

The people going “get over it pussy” and whatever need to touch grass.

You don’t throw a playoff triple overtime hit in a 10-1 regular season game you absolute clowns.

  24. finis08

No real need for that hit but at the same time what the hell is Colburn doing walking in the zone acting like it’s a stick and puck season at the local rink. Playing like nobody is going to hit you because it’s the end of a 10-1 game is just as dumb as throwing a low hit when it’s the end of a 10-1 game.

  25. bobadefett

Was the hit illegal? I get why everytime was pissed he threw the hit, but why did he get ejected? I’m not 100% on the rules when it comes to checking.

  26. ownage727

Iginla was a goon at times that would hide behind a smile…but man if things weren’t going his way the crybaby would come out.

Also he pretty weak in the playoffs

  27. Moosehagger

Wait. 10-1 Habs vs Avs? Wait, what?

  28. JiffTheJester

    Huge fucking pussy that emelin

  29. TheLyingProphet

I agree with everything said in this rant

  30. No_Gas_4956

That looked like a textbook hip check. I love seeing a good hit no matter the score. The only reason Iginla went after him was because their egos were hurt about the score. Otherwise the play would have went on.

  31. DistanceSuper3476

That is a Clean hit and he has nothing to answer for ! I hate both teams.I do love watching the Cup champs get their heads handed to them and a final fuck you with the sweet hip check

  32. Brookie069

I was expecting a Jack Edwards style rant. The commentator here was right.

  33. SigSauerPower320

To be fair, the commentator was 100% right. It’s 10-1 and he ran away and was hiding behind Price. You wanna throw the hit, drop the gloves when someone steps up.

  34. Mondo_the_dukes

I believe that hit was clean and okay. A clean big hit should not involve a fight. If you want to say its a 10-1 game why is it 10-1 you ran up the score could have played keep away or put out your lesser players more often. But no they wanted to play so lets play.

  35. Acrobatic_Switches

Honestly more pissed about him hiding behind his goalie. That’s pure bitchmade shit. Lost all respect from his colleagues

  36. Zivmovic

The score and hit.. maybe EA does make realistic games lol

  37. Stuckatwork271

What a disgusting hit – agree completely with the commentator.

Dudes a coward here. Hope they get one back next time they’re on the ice together.
