Yans, Subban, and Chara all calling it a career on the same day feels like the end of a defensive era.

his injuries hit him like a truck. Top tier player and then in 2 years he was trash. Life comes at you hard

Damn, I’m actually pretty surprised he is outright retiring. PK obviously was not his vintage self in his latter years, but I actually thought he was reasonably solid for us last year. Good, not great, but certainly a contributing NHL defenseman. Contract size was out of whack, but that’s a different story from just no longer being an NHL defenseman. We don’t have cap space for him anymore, but I figured he would have landed somewhere on a much cheaper contract versus outright retiring. I guess injuries are a bitch.
In either case, best of luck to PK in retirement. He seemed like a cool dude.
I’ll never forget his spin-o-rama that lead to a goal for Mark Schieffle. Easiest goal he’d ever score.
Shocked he didn’t do a dirty hit when announcing it. Not like him.
