Well-urinatingtree-you definitely have a way with words. And your comic instincts are solid. Further, I had thought that jack adams ended up with the Maple Leafs in the mid '60's? So I looked it up and wasn't close. But I looked it up because of this reel. Further, I already knew that Maple Leafs fans are among, if not the top hockey fans in the world. So I cannot even imagine how they must feel as so many swings and misses have plagued their team over the years. I do hope they don't still hate on L.A. over a particular play in the 1993 round with Toronto. Frankly, I might be the only guy on this planet who hated our owner at the time for buying a team and then trying to buy the Cup. We had a terrific, young team and he basically traded everyone away for one icon…it was as if that prick, jkc had returned from the grave (I might note he was born just outside of Toronto-thanks for nothin'!). In any case, I do think some kind of curse must be hanging over the team and I hope the fans find a way to end it. Afterall, the way ownership disintegrated the team after the 1967 Stanley Cup victory was beyond arrogance. Treating your team like shit really does deserve to live on in infamy…well, perhaps 50+ years is a bit much. Admiteddly, I am glad Canadian fans have been forced to suffer after they took the pussie approach to winning in 1993. I cannot even begin to tell you where I'd like to see that curved stick shoved. Of course, the Kings' players all laughed it off and said most players on both teams were cheating with stick curves? I guess the bottom line is that-are you listening Maple Leafs fans?-when you choose to buy your championships, rather than building winning teams, perhaps you do get what you deserve? With that said, it certainly feels like the time has come for this team to rise above adversity and bring the Cup home where it truly belongs. Note: please do it while you still have at least a couple former Kings on board 😉
As a football fan (Cruz Azul) and a As a new maple leaf fan from California I know what it feels to see your team loose finals and playoff series, I had to wait 23 years to see my team win. I waited to see the Cubs win, the Maple Leafs will do it again soon. Just believe
