Prediction: 4th in the Atlantic (WC2)
Reasoning: probably my most out there pick but I really like what they did in the offseason, they have a sneaky fantastic tandem, and there has to be a supprise team that gets in and this team has the young guns to do it. In Yzerman we trust.
I think this team can finish as high as third in the Atlantic they made solid moves and their speed is gonna be a problem for other teams to deal with

They signed so much depth. I think they wanted kuemper but he went to the capitals. Rangers just went super deep with depth.
You didn't mention Vrana. He is going to have an amazing year if he can stay healthy. Purest goal scorer I've seen since Fedorov. Also, Fabri will be back in the second half of the season. If he can also stay healthy I think he will do well as he has been. Great video. LGRW!

It'd be nice to see a more competitive Atlantic and East this season.
If they deploy Vrana properly, I genuinely believe he could score 40. It’s a shame he’s not getting proper ice time or PP1 opportunities.
I still think they'll finish last in there division. No one truly understands how bad the D was last year. They only really added Matta and Chariot and they will not improve it much. Their offence is better and they'll score lots but they aren't going anywhere with that defence. Expect a lot of high scoring game loses for the Wings.
So sick of people not understanding sodorbloms game.. he’s not a dude that just sits in front of the net. His pick skills and shot are his only elite skills. He plays on the right circle on the powerplay cuz he’s a sniper. He just happens to be huge.

i had 2 detroit fans that wanted to argue with me about detroit being a playoff team. i said "with what players?"…and they went on to least a bunch of guys that've played 1 year with limited results…….but even had they got some guys they're in a division where the only way to move up is if someone else gets a lot worse. soon it'll be boston, however ottawa has a better roster than detroit.
I say you get rid of Larkin and Bertuzzi if it does not add up. i really do love these guys, but they are not winners. Beginning to be plagued by attitudes and injuries, they've been the stars on a terrible team for a couple years now. lgrw
Edvinsson has all the tools to be the next big thing for Detroit, but i think he is nowhere near ready for NHL. Hes going down to ice so easily and so often, he just sort of needs to grow into that big body, get stronger and improve his balance on the skates. SHL is not very physical compared to NA hockey leagues and that is so evident now. Well see, maybe im wrong, but i think he needs to spend some time in AHL and improve that side of his play.
Good season. For us will be reducing the GA by an 1/3 and being somewhere near the wildcard slots up till the trade deadline

vrana missed a lot of last year also. A line with him, copp, perron is a solid second line.
I agree with Copp. he can be fine but I think hes overrated. he had 1 good year and now everyone freaks out. I like the Perron signing the best.
I really feel like the future is pretty bright in Detroit, although I felt that way 5-6 years ago, too… when Larkin, Mantha, Tatar, Nyquist, Athanasiou and others were coming in as prospects and well, that didn’t work out so well… I think mostly because we didn’t have much defensive growth from prospects and goaltending was maybe a bit subpar and losing Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, Franzen to injuries, etc. was always going to be painful… but we thought we were just gonna reload within a few years and maybe given some better draft luck in the last 5 years of Ken Holland may have eliminated the need for such a deep rebuild, but so many bad contracts really kept a lot of our prospects down longer than they shouldve been and we unloaded at least 3 or 4 really good ones because we didn’t have room and that hurt, too. So, we’ll take it year by year here, but it really feels like maybe the excitement about prospects in the past was not nearly the same as it is right now… these guys look so much more like bonafide stars that it’s hard to imagine many of them not becoming huge parts of the next run for this team and now we have a lot of room to bring these guys up right when we can best utilize their skills and continue their development, rather than not bringing them up because we were paying Dan Cleary like millions or Jonathan Ericsson or a bunch of other bottom 4 or 6 players being payed 3-6 mil a year.
The new coaching staff, new goalie and bigger defense are all positive changes this year. All three changes should improve the special teams. The aging Bruins better fasten their seatbelts because the Wings have them in their sights.

If they can stay consistent I absolutely see them in the playoffs.

Everyone keeps forgetting Vrana. He has been on a scoring terror since coming over. Just hasn’t stayed healthy. If he plays a full dragon, everything points to 30+ goals and beat a point a game. Larks, Bert, Vrana, Raymond, should all project at 30+ goals with Copp snd Perron rounding out the top six. I think this team is under rated. If the blue line and the howl tending stabilize, watch out. Bottom half of the line up is over loaded numbers wise. I predict the opposite of last year. Unless injuries derail them again, the first half of the season the top half of the line up gells and the bottom half gets sorted. With solid goal tending, who knows.
Great video. As a Wings fan, youre pretty spot on. Look for Rasmussen, Zadina, and Veleno to progress. Detroit has been breaking in guys at 23-25 years old for so long that people forget these guys were broken in at 19-20 years old. They needed time to mature as men. I think we will see better hockey from these 3 this year.
If Fabbri stays healthy, he could be in for a huge season. He deserves it more than anyone.

Difficult to know if there's going to b e chemistry with new players like Perron coming in.
Has he played with some of Detroit's players in the past and or how well he knows them in previous leagues could be a factor.
