Byfield and Clarke looked pretty good. Byfield was definitely the top Kings player. Clarke seemed pretty poised. Ward seemed to have some jump.
Nobody else really stood out. It was more of a scrimmage game. All the guys needed to get their games going a little more.
On the PP they ran 4 forwards, 1 defensemen. Top unit had Madden playing center if the faceoff was on the right. Byfield would play left point. Clarke on the right point.
If the faceoff was on the left Byfield would play the center.
I am kind of hoping LA uses the 4 forwards, 1 D this season on the PP with Fiala. Fiala can play the left point and the left wing.
Ward has been my dark horse pick of making team was by far Best Player would have had Hat Trick if didn't saddle him with Byfield later on. Helenius along with Pinelli were Dominant on the PK nearly scoring SHG often in Colorado zone. Unlike Byfield who was liability running all over place leading to what should have been easy Avalanche goal. He is not a Skilled player is Ryan REaves without the Grit or Physical Play. Byfield needs to play simple game like Helenius about 10 to 20 plays at blueline or in general NHL player would get puck score goal or get breakaway. Clarke too small defensive liability had reckless plays in other zone but good speed He needs to change number get muscle. Pinelli not much of Goal Scorer but pair with Chromiak or Helenius he can do well on PP or PK. I"m convinced QB needs to primary be Wing at NHL. Kings would be better off with Helenius playing PK on 3rd/4th line over QB. I"d send Byfield to ECHL they only have 10 forwards then see if he can move up.
I would have easily saved that goal he tried to move to the backhand. He needs to keep it on forehand then try to go short side or far or just get on net. Colorado since Makar have drafted 25th or later if even had 1st round pick. Kings talent failed with all these early picks as were outshot like 21 11 at one point. Ingram letup two weak long distance Goals so I don't blame players on ice. Maybe he has issues with long range stuff as Avalanche easily could have got 5 or 6 goals. Drooley LAKI Propaganda claimed Byfield was Dominant. Grans was alright he got caught on the ice too long. That LHD who had the assist was good. They tried to make it seem Byfield had anything to do with PPG that Madden assisted on along with Clarke. Helenius not best passer or Pinnelli best scorer or they would have had SHG for sure. Lots or Pressure I give them A+ on PK while QB solid F.
Overall Grades Ward A-, Pinnelli esp given his age B+, Helenius B+ solid 3rd/4th line guy who can contribute on PK. Clarke I think is 3 to 5 years ago but C+ as got both assists. Byfield I would have to give C- he was below average had some won faceoffs. He is not a Skilled player needs to keep it simple like Helenius or wont pan out heh. Rest of them were about C or around there. Helgra Grans got caught on ice too long a few times. That LHD who got the assist I'd say was C+ Kim or has long last name. Was Spence there as didn't notice him if was haha. Madden playing with QB at least made him seem taller. I'm not a fan but he was about C nothing amazing one way or another getting PPA. I'm glad the Prospects lived up to my rankings or ratings. Thomas another under sized bust useless player no upside. Ward I expected to do well being form College. QB can't score those goals in ECHL or AHL or NHL. Juniors has a lot of goalies who too small or too slow or both. Your not going to beat anybody cutting across trying to get on backhand. I mean just keep it simple your Ryan Reaves not Gabe Vilardi or Makar ;). LAKI posted it on their site for free which was blacked out in some markets.
