Leah Hextall is a rookie and should be treated as such. This is not an easy job to do well. All the other broadcasters working their way up the ladder deserve this assignment; not her. ESPN should be developing their talent in lower levels of hockey before the big show. Half a dozen games total on her resume should not land her this gig.
"With the shot!" & "Takes the shot!" on essentially every play towards the net is just shameful. She mumbles through the broadcast, dishes out incomprehensible dialog leading up to every goal and lacks energy during key plays.
She even called the Sharks "Blue" in the last SJ broadcast and was oblivious to a players' first ever goal until it was announced over the PA. Just embarrassing all around. This is the best hockey league in the world and we should also have elite talent in the broadcasting booth… especially on a National game.
Did you hear her call the goal for Hronek? Everyone else on the broadcast is looking at Bertuzzi and she says, "Filip Hronek with the power play goal!" How much longer to we have to deal with this?
Can anybody explain to me how that second Sharks goal was even remotely allowed to stand? I played hockey through the 80s and 90s, High School and club, kinda stopped watching in the early 2000s but am slowly trying to get back into it. I know a lot has changed, no two line pass, there's new goaltender handling areas, but for the life of me I can't see how somebody crashing into the goalie and scoring off their leg with no shot to the net could be a goal – sure I would think penalty if he were checked down and into the goaltender but bodying a puck into the goal by just flailing and crashing into the keeper is a strange thing for me to see upheld… why would anybody ever shoot if they could just barrel into the goalie and hope it goes in … first thing that has honestly perplexed me since getting back into the sport.

This was a very Entertaining game that Goal 🥅 by, Jeffrey Truchon Viel was fire, and the wings Goalie played good he had 27 saves.🔥
