Patrick isnt a bust, he is just an injured player. a bust is a healthy player who doesnt live up to his hype, an injured player isnt a bust because they are not able to show case their talents
Maybe that's the problem with today's NHL, there's a lot of pressure for younger players to make an impact almost right away. Maybe we just need to be patient with some players even if they're a top 10 pick. I mean if they're like 22-23 as a top 10 and still in the AHL they're looked as potential bust. I can only imagine there's a lot of pressure when you're a top 10, but I can imagine being told you're probably a bust probably doesn't help.
Nashville made out the better of all of them because they shipped Myers to Tampa to cut salary and walked away with Ryan McDonagh. I know it may not be 2015 or 16 but they still want to compete
TBL and Nashville (due to McDonagh) will probably be the winners
I'm not ready to say every team lost the trade quite yet. If McDonagh fits well and Glass is able to improve, I think there's potential to say Nashville won this trade.
Definitely one of the worst trades ever but I don't think it's as bad as Arizona sending injury prone Antti Raanta and a Derek Stepan who faded away for Tony DeAngelo and Lias Anderson who was a total bust at 7th overall. Easily the worst three way trade ever for sure though.
I'm soo happy the Avs lost the 2017 draft lottery, Hischier is alright, but Patrick might retire ffs. Kid can't catch a break

I wouldn't write Glass off quite yet, he had 62 pts in 66 AHL games n is only 23. I could see him doin alright if NSH tried him with Duchene and/or Forsberg this year bc the kid is a playmaker

Wow blaming a injury for being a bad trade , who could of predicted an injury, at the time you thought it was a good trade footprint Philly, now the other two players are just so so players, neither were expected to be great

Preds end up with Mcdonagh and a decent prospect in glass for an aging injury prone Ellis I consider this trade tree a win for Nashville

Seattle Expansion Draft is the reason for these trades. Patrick would have been left exposed if he was on either of the Philly or Nashville rosters, hence why he was shipped to Vegas for Glass who was exempt. Figuring the Kraken settled for AHLer, Carsen Twarynski from the Flyers instead of their former 2nd overall pick and Nashville was able to dump salary this wasn't the worst thing in the world considering the intangibles involved.
And both Glass and Patrick are young enough not to write off yet.
Flipping Myers for McDonaugh could redeem this for the preds
