  1. Not a sexy answer, but both of your top 9s sound pretty good. I would like to see Pearson showcased and moved for anything eventually, and have Hogs work his way into that spot. Hoglander needs to have a good year, and that could make Pearson obsolete.

    Aside from that, let's gooooooooo!

  2. For me, with all the talent in that top 9, hopefully Pearson isn't going to be in the Top 6, or someone's underachieving. At this point, Pearson is at best a 3rd line winger. Given we've thrown all this money at Miller, assuming everyone has decent chemistry with each other, I'd go: 1: Mikeyev-Miller-Boeser 2: Pettersson-Horvat-Kuzmenko/Garland for the top 6. If we're keeping Horvat and Miller, they're the 2 best face-off men on the roster, so I don't want Elias doing something he's less than 50% proficient in. Ideally, you hope that The Kuz is going to be a top 6 forward, which I assume is why he was brought in. Mikeyev has been given a lot of money, and if he's stuck on the 3rd line, we're right back where we started from under Jim Benning, who overpaid bottom 6 forwards. It's bad enough that we're overpaying Pearson, but he's an adequate 3rd liner at this point who can do 2nd line duty with Horvat in a pinch. Garland's contract is even more rich for a 3rd liner, but then again, depth is a good thing if everyone's clicking. It's all about chemistry. In the end, if everyone can play at their best, I don't really care.

  3. Pearson Miller Boeser – based on last year
Kuzmenko Petey Podkolzin – petey and pod are both sick together
Mikheyev Horvat Garland – good 2 way line, defensively responsible can possibly not 70 goals as a line

Hoglander can take Pearson's spot on the top line or even slot in beside Petey if Kuzmenko bumps Pearson down.

  4. Mikheyev. Miller. Podkolzin

    Kuzmenko. Petterson. Boeser

    Pearson. Horvat. Garland

    Dickinson. Lazar. Joshua

    OEL. Hughes

    Dermott. Myers

    Rathbone Schenn

    Demko

  5. Boys come on!! Depth!! Don’t under-estimate Hogs!! Balance is key!!!!
    Podkolzon – Pettersson – Boeser
    Kuzmenko – Miller – Hoglander
    Mikheyev – Horvat – Garland
    Pearson – Lazar – Joshua

    Hughes – Schenn
    Ekman-Larsson – Myers
    Rathbone – Poolman/Dermott

    Demko
    Martin

  6. Garland – Miller – Boeser
    Kuzmenko – pettersson – podkolzin
    Pearson – Horvat – Mikheyev
    Hoglander – Lazar – Joshua

    Reasons:
    – first line is a zone possession based line. Bruce would try not to pair these guys up with the other teams top line. Hughes on defense will move the puck into the O-zone and these guys will do the rest
    – second line is a rush scoring line. They can intercept passes and the Russian winger connection will help the chemistry. I liked how petey and podz played together last year, and think kuz will prove to look good on a line with them
    – third line is an offensively capable but defensively minded line, their size and defensive awareness could have them matching up against other teams’ top lines and would be able to revert pressure and change the pace of the game
    – fourth line seems natural but I made sure hoglander was there because I think they’ll give him some time at the beginning of the season developing his defensive game. I think hoglander has top 6 potential but he can’t reach it before he masters the other aspects of his game
