  1. Chara helped in other ways, with isles, but was terrible on the ice! He's had great career, but at 45, he's done!

  2. Thanks for another excellent report—Chara has been around for a long time, but IMHO, it's time to retire, he's lost a lot of steps the past couple of seasons–also the same with Thornton and Ladd, good careers but past their primes and will be hard to beat out some kid on a roster. At the moment, the price the Coyotes are asking for Chychrun is too steep IMHO, but, I suspect he will be moved at the trade deadline to a contender, who may then be willing to pay the price for a possible Cup run.

  3. Would love Chara in a mentor role as well with Boychuk, especially since I don't think he's gonna play!

  4. Mock trade:

To Hurricanes: Michael Matheson & Rem Pitlick.

To Habs: A 2023 2nd rd pick, Dominik Bokk & Jake Gardiner.

Edit: This is just for fun, so feel free to crucify me down below. lol

  5. Still don't see Jesse getting traded. Not enough RW depth, and if he can start finishing then you have a great two way forward. Holland has done a lot to keep him, and woodcraft will mold him. I still believe Barrie is the odd man out. He's loved in the locker room. But 2×4.5 is crazy.

  6. Yes, Ottawa was 30 points shy of the playoffs last year. But that's deceiving. They essentially played .500 hockey (80 -point pace) all season, except for November when the league made them play through a severe Covid outbreak. This resulted in a 1-10-1 record, worth 3 of a possible 24 points. They were better than their record, so they may not have as many steps to climb as it seems. If they can find the D they want, they can make the wildcard race very interesting.

  7. I think trading Pulujarvi would be a mistake. Barrie or Foegelin would be more preferable

  8. It has become apparent this is truly an armature operation. I mean grasping at straws with the weekly report on nothing doing with Chychrun and Ottawa? It’s pretty obvious what happened with that. It has nothing to do with Ottawa pulling the trigger. They are not overpaying and there’s very few players in the league that would waive to go to this Arizona team.

  9. I have a bad gut feeling for the Flames this year. I think their core got shaken up just enough to rattle them. They may have some growing pains in establishing a new team identity. I hope I’m wrong.

  10. Ottawa might have a different plan. Its all about the cap space right now Chykrun is not only going to be a big cap hit but to get him may just be too expensive as far as assets.2 first rounders is too much.
I think that Jamie Drydale would be a perfect fit and I think that Karlson being late in his career would also help.Ziatsev,JBD and a first rounder for Jamie Drysdale.Deal 2 Hamonic ,Alec Formenton and a Washington 2024 2nd rounder for Erik Karlson..

  11. It pains me to admit as an Oilers fan that the Flames probably have the BEST defensive core now in the League, they’re going to be a juggernaut.

I just hope the Oil can keep up with them, but I’m kind of leery about it seeing as we have the most overrated and overpaid blueliner in the League in Darnell “Turnover” Nurse, I just don’t feel like Edmonton’s blueline is good enough yet, hopefully they have enough cap space to at least bring in another decent defence man maybe on a 1 year contract and then go from there.

    Should be interesting, 🤞…

    Go Oilers Go! 🟠🔵

I also agree with what you said about Ottawa. IMO I think they’re going to be a strong team this Season and will probably make the Playoffs.

  12. I met Matthew joseph this last weekend and after speaking with him, he said the whole team is extremely hungry for Playoffs, but also mentioned how tough the Atlantic division is
