@Islanders de New York

1. I think a question for Johnny Hockey is "are you afraid of the pressure the New York market would entail?" Calgary is small market all the way and the pressure was too much there. So Columbus?? How much of a smaller market could there be? Johnny will be forgotten soon.

  2. I'm done with Lou's BS. I don't care how good of a GM he "used" to be or that he won the GM of the year popularity contest. He needs to go. The game passed him by. He doesn't have the clout he thinks he does anymore.

  3. It's weird bc Long Island is gorgeous. Beaches, city right there, everything is at your fingertips, season change and so on. Thing is the NYR/NYC are so overrated the narrative that Manhattan is amazing will never change

  4. who wants to play a trap in 2022?
players numbers are down because of their restrictive style and as a result, don't maka as much money!
    LONG LIVE SPANO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Beauvillier-Barzal-Pat Kane
    Lee-Nelson-Wahlstrom
    Parise-Pageau-Palmieri
    Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
    Pelech-Pulock
    Romanov-Dobson
    Leddy-Mayfield

    THIS is thee way

  6. We all better pray that William Dufour turns out to be a late round gold find, he's got the size ,good hands, and tenacity etc. But even he's probably going to need at least a year on the Bridge first…
I can't help but wonder about Tkachuk though?
If I'm him and I see Gudbranson and Johnny Hockey and a few other pieces leave the flames, what's his state of mind right now?
Lou should at least try to convince him that he has a great speedy passing center (Barzal) here in long Island for him to keep up his numbers as well.. because in all honesty, there isn't much left out there thats worth the time of day much less the over payment that it's going to require this late in the FA environment

  7. First off, I think Romanov will be able to help us more than we realize. If you think about it as him replacing Chara or Greene, it's an astronomical upgrade. I think this was a great move on Lous part. Panarin NEVER WANTED TO GO ANYWHERE BESIDES NYR. It was very well known. Panarin was on record several times saying he wanted to play for the Rangers. I also wonder if the Isles were ever in on JG. I haven't heard anything from Lou regarding it so I'll wait to see what he says. Also on the topic of not being attractive to UFAs FAs, I wonder what the rest of the leagues feelinga are about Matt Barzal. What is his reputation? I feel he is known as a crybaby and showoff, but with elite talent of course. Maybe HE is a reason players shy away? Or possibly it's other players on the team? Is it the team in general? Just a thought. Also I feel Lou hasn't been a perfect GM with all the old guy lengthy contracts like Cizikas Martin Clutter etc.

  8. This issue has been going on before Lou . Andrew Ladd is the biggest free agent the islanders have ever signed. Ever.

  9. Spot on take. It's so frustrating that JG was there for the taking, we just had to invest and stop with all this nonsense of keeping all the old vets on crappy contracts rather than being creative and get the cap space to fairly pay JG and contend for a cup. I have respect for Lou and don't think he's the worst, but I have no confidence that he adds value to the team and gets us to contention.

  10. Interesting how, when there is an unfulfilled rumor, everyone turns on the GM. How about the reporters being so consistently wrong and full of crap. I think if isles fans want to maintain their sanity and maximize hockey-related enjoyment, find an off-season hobby and just watch the games

  11. Do you issue with the islanders is that whenever a player thinks of New York they automatically think and want to go to the Rangers

  12. I’m upset with how the off-season has gone down but this narrative from the isles fan base needs to end. From what we know JT wanted to go home and his wife forced his hand on that. Panarin wanting to go to the rangers wasn’t a surprise to anyone, in retrospect it helped the isles make the rangers waste more effecting their cap. Gaudreau wanted Philly and chose Columbus. Choosing one team out of several doesn’t mean you’ve rejected any of the other options or make the remaining options undesirable. Now the fans are mad that Lou hasn’t made any moves “what was plan B!?” For fans thinking free agency is linear and works on the islanders time let me give you an example. Say you’re in high school and prom is coming. Your plan A is asking the prettiest girl in school, she tells you give me a day to think about it. In the meantime you’re flirting with another girl (plan B) but can’t make a commitment to her until you hear back from Plan A. Plan A says “sorry I’m going with someone else”, you then call plan B and she says “sorry someone else asked me an hour ago and I said yes”. So fans are mad that we whiffed on the big fish and they would have been equally as mad if instead trying for the big fish, the isles signed mediocre sub 25 goal scorers which the team is riddled with. I’m not a “trust Lou” guy, but the fans are putting impossible expectations on him right now. Try for the big fish but also make worthless signings and somehow come up with a package that’s going to make a team say “ok I’ll give up a 100 point, first line winger, for whatever you offer” as if trading for top talent is an easy thing. We came into the off-season needing a left handed defenseman and a top line winger. The easiest of the two is taken care of. Now we’ll wait to see if anything can be done to acquire a top line guy (which teams aren’t eager to get rid of)

  13. I see another dismal year for the Isles. YOU SAID IT! A barely 500 club again. They will play a lot of unders!

  14. WOW! That's Very Deep & Prophetic, That The NY Islanders, Under Lou Lamirello, Have Built A Team That Players Would Find Less Appealing Than The Columbus Blue Jackets (No Disrespect To Columbus).
