What a disaster
That 56% face off rate alone makes this a good add for the rangers
Rangers have a little over 20 million in cap space next offseason. They will be fine to sign Laff and Miller. It’s like Graviteh doesn’t even look at our long term cap space before saying we can’t sign a guy to 5.6 lol
I’m sure part of the Rangers future plans, involves trading Jacob Trouba. In two years has no movement clause turns into a limited no trade clause. That frees up over 8 million. It doesn’t solve all the problems but it might help him sign Auston Matthews! 😂😂😂

7 years is too long but if you're the Rangers you kind of had no choice.
Panarin has 4 years left on his deal. Shesterkin has a 4 year contract kicking in next season at just 5.6 million AAV. Zibanejad is already getting close to 30 and Kreider is no spring chicken. For this type of contract you just have to accept that it will look terrible in the last 2 years because you have to go all-in while you still have Panarin, Zibanejad, and Kreider in their primes and Shesterkin on such a team-friendly deal.
Hosed, full effort to land Schieffli would've been better
After 2025/26 he's got a 12 team NTC, it decreases each year after down to 6 teams – same for his salary and SB. It's a pretty well-structured deal. Besides, Trouba is probably gone after 2023/24.
I dont get the term issue, is trocheck projected to retire before 36? No, he’s playing hockey somewhere regardless so why not lock up a talented 2C which is very difficult to find. I think 5.6 for a player that imo playing with panarin will be a point a game guy will seem like the bargain of the century, panarin made strome look great, strome is not a driver, hes numbers will drop without panarin.
Could have kept Strome for less $ and less years. Rangers are a much worse team than they were 24 hours ago without Strome, Vatrano, and Copp.

I love the signing, he could be even better with Panarin and was a major need. They got killed in faceoffs in the playoffs.
Also Rangers are getting ready to lose Jacob Trouba within the next 2 years (which will also free up cap space), so adding grit in advance of losing grit.

My 2 cents as a rangers fan is this. Rangers will end up trading Kreider and Trouba in the near future to free up over 15M in cap, this alone will give us major flexibility especially with the cap ceiling going up to be able to sign the young guys and continue to contend for the cup. The deal seems iffy now but wait until this guy plays alongside Panarin, if Ryan strome was dropping 50+ points a year (while not being able to hit an open net) my speculation is vinny will eclipse 70+ next season, book it.
And for any rangers fans who may get mad about bringing up trading kreider, love the guy but we gotta be realistic, he is extremely streaky, he had a mind blowing year, his trade value is at its peak he’s only gonna decline as the years go on. That 6.5 a year is gonna hurt bad if they don’t unload him in the next 2-3 years
Future Rangers FA disappointment. You dont mess with chemistry! Strome already fit in and was at home; now Dreary is bringing in a new personality. Just because he fit in in Carolina doesnt mean spit for fitting in in NY; especially when it may get stressful when he doesnt produce. Not if, WHEN.
