  1. First of all in Canada we call them sweaters second This is what you get when you elect liberal idiots this is what you get with all you leftist morons Time to wake up Canada

  2. I don’t understand why 1 “professor” at U of Anywhere should create such a firestorm. We over use the term “racist” such that it has lost it’s actual meaning. The Orca logo is an homage to the West Coast First Nations. Stop the BS! Ignore “professors”.

  3. Glad to see a mostly civil comment section. Thanks for covering this so calmly & not deliberately trying to piss anyone off

  4. I am First Nation, and I do not feel this is offensive or racist to First Nations. Blackhawks are more of a conversation about racism then Vancouver’s logo.

  5. Whoever these “people” are that want to change the logo because it offends them: stfu. Your doesn’t matter more than anyone’s. Stop acting like a self-righteous asshole and stop being offended by the littlest of things. I seriously don’t get how people live like that. They must be miserable bastards.

  6. I’m native, love the Canucks and the jersey
If any natives are buthurt about it, #¥€# em, there’s more important things in this world to worry about, mr.
Holtby keep the helmet, use it well, I like the design

  7. There are a lot of people out there with their own agendas. The real problem is the media continues to enable them

  8. its offensive that sheeple think that this is offensive. All these teams are paying tribute to the things they choose to name their teams after. Most of the teams celebrate their heritage as well as the roots of where these things came from. The very fact that anyone thinks that this is offensive annoys me greatly. I hope Vancouver doesnt cave

  9. There is absolutely nothing remotely offensive about the Orca logo/jersey. They even said at the time that they found it and the Seahawks logo/jersey to be very respectful. Anyone who says they are is either lying or is offended by everything. It has no correlation to their artwork.

  10. Omg i get it why where looking for life on Mars or we will build up to the sky and about the logo meh im a sharks fan so no big deal

  11. The most cringe thing about this whole situation is the alt-right brainlets in the comment sections on every video bringing politics into it when every normal liberal doesn't have an issue with it and when republicans also cry over the smallest things as well. Just other things.

  12. Using logic, locally, we have Amazon, a huge new mall and Aquilini housing development behind both. All sitting on Indigenous land. This story is a distraction for local sports fans to keep us from talking about the fact our provincial government is not allowing hockey in bc

  13. 👋 From 🗽 the first nations said there is nothing offensive about Vancouver logo with the Orca 🙏🏼 Amen. I personally ❤️ the Stick and Rink logo, but thats just my opinion. Nothing racist about the Orca logo.

  14. As a Native American Indigenous Man of British Columbia, an a citizen of Vancouver, we actually embrace and love the logo.

Not once in the 20ish years have we ever been disgraced of this.

Ryan Miller had a fantastic helmet also, no one hated it.

I can safely say, none of us Indigenous are angry or embarrassed of this jersey logo.

Some person in Manitoba DOES NOT SPEAK FOR US.

We have loved the Canucks with the Skate, Stick and Orca logo, even the Millionaires logo.

All of us Indigenous Native Americans are not offended over this.

If we were, the Chicago Black Hawks and classic Coyotes jerseys would of been history.
But us Native Americans have no issue with those.

Red Skin is a racial term thrown onto our ancestors in the past.

Wearing our Traditional garment is offensive too our people.

Those are what we disagree with.

The Orca Canucks, we have zero quarrel with, that person does not speak for us.

If we had a problem, Ed Belfours Helmet, Corey Crawfords Helmet, Ryan Millers Canucks mask would of been hated.

The Canucks embraced the Jersey Logo the same we embraced the teams logo.
Yes, the Coast Salish native American indigenous are absolutely fine with it. We all are fine with it.

Honestly, i am a full blooded Native American, i loved all the Canucks jersey Logos.
I actually got a Goalie Mask designed the same way as past Canuck Goalie Alex Aulds mask, i love Braden Holtbys mask, Ryan Millers mask was a favorite to many of us.

I hope Holtby keeps the mask, many of my family and old time hockey fans liked the Holtby Canucks mask also.

  15. This is a really great video man, I’m definitely subscribing to your channel 👍🏻

  16. I kind of want them to switch the logo not because I think it's rasict but I think their logo should be Johnny Canuck 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

  17. I was 100% on board with changing the Washington Football Teams name. However, I think using an art style in the canucks logo that originates with indigenous people should be seen as a way to encourage and share different types of art through the NHL. It is in no way a stereotype or mockery (like the name "Redskins" was) and I personally think its really cool to incorporate different types of art in logos

  18. I think that Vancouver unlike say Cleveland (Baseball) or Washington DC (Football), was not trying to be offensive. Canada unlike the United States has a better relationship in terms of respect towards native people. This professor seems to me wants to bitch just to bitch. If the Natives really, truly were upset about the logo they would say something, as they did with the Indians or the Redskins which was changed. The Manitoban shouldn't be telling ANYONE how to feel since he's white.

  19. There is definitely too much racism in the NHL in terms of team names and logos and Pittsburgh is no different. Being born and raised in Antarctica I'm constantly subjected to racial slurs by my peers ever since I relocated to North America. There hasn't been a day since I moved here that I haven't been bombarded with hateful speech like "Hey Penguin, cold enough for ya?" or "Hey Penguin, can I get some ice with that cola?" Something needs to be done about it. I'm looking at you, Sidney Crosby.

  20. Kings were oppressive ruler's, my Los Angeles Kings are toast! So are my Carolina Hurricanes, those storms target minorities and underprivileged groups……

  21. as a fan of a team who buckled to the sensitive people, im really getting tired of people getting sensitive about mascots. no team is gonna choose a mascot to make fun of anyone or to degrade anyone.

8:58 exactly. our Redskins logo was not disrespectful at all and it was even created by a Native.

  22. its like the washington “football team” im indian and it doesnt offend me

  23. I'm part Mi'kmaq, and, although I'm not a part of the indigenous culture in Vancouver, and I won't make a comment towards that, but to me, if a team from what is traditionally Mi'kmaq territory did something like the Vancouver Canucks, I would be okay with is, just as I'm not offended by the Blackhawks logo. I think there's a right way and a wrong way to go about implementing native inspired artwork. And to me, Vancouver and Chicago do it the right way. A respectful and tasteful way. An honourable way.

  24. Nice job. The funny thing is how long it probably actually took to make this video with the controversy. Our society has got to the point where you need to differentiate between “me telling you what to think” and “just my opinion”

  25. If they change it I would like to see a white cracked ice "V" bordered in green/blue/white. On the away whites just border it in a wider green/blue border. Simple. Calgary has fire and Vancouver has ice. Fire and Ice. Too many "C" logos in NHL.

  26. First Nations person here. Personally I'm fine with the Canucks, Coyotes and Holtby's mask design. I have not at any point found them offensive. The way I see it as if they're honouring Indigenous art. Plus Holtby was not the first Canuck to have Indigenous art featured on their masks. Ryan Miller and Corey Hirsch were the other two and no one said anything at the time. I don't know why Holtby got all the hate.

  27. I am not sure that the teams have racist. Maybe it's a piece of fake news.
Oh, I would like to let all the Canadian know, that Filipino is the most racist around the world, because they thought Vancouver was a base where they can alive

So That means my hometown, Hong Kong, was ruined by them.
