As a habs fan I like the pickup
This is a move done solely for the purpose of Primeau's development. He looked overwhelmed in the last game, and I think Hughes and Gorton saw that. For what was given up, this is a smart move.
Solid add in the short term
They needed to do something like this because primo needs some more seasoning in the AHL
Anything will help the Habs in net right now. Carey Price is a true "White Elephant" paying him a lot of money to be on the IR and be on the injured list
To say it's a minor deal is an understatement but it could be the start of a flurry of trades as well

Hammond ought to retire immediately!
Primeau allows 2 or 3 bad goals per game or half game before being pulled. Picking up Hammond or any goalie for the rest of the season was a much-needed move. No need to bring Price back this season or to hurray Allen back. Montembeault had a couple of shaky starts but has played outstanding in relief against Washington and today against Columbus.
Might as well do nothing than trading for Hammond. What a terrible move.
Could have given McNiven a chance as I don't think Primeau a 7th round draft choice will ever become a #1 goaltender anywhere in the LNH and that what we need a #1 goaltender.
Price's time is over and expect a early retirement , and Allen is a very good #2.
And where we are at ,winning is not #1 priority as the season is over and no chance to make the playoffs so why not have a peek at what we really have as potential prospects so we can established what is needed for a rebuild . Baddock had a better chance to play full time in the NHL than Primeau will ever have.
Great trade, poor Caden has been thrown to the 🦁. This would have really crushed his confidence if it had been aloud to continue. ( Go Habs GO)
