Let me know your thoughts on the off season for the Blackhawks?
Oh WOW-the Kyle Beach incident coming to light early part of the season basically cursed this team IMHO, and the aftermath is still lingering–I don't know what the correct resolution should have been, but , I do know they haven't done enough–the entire off-ice culture needs to change–On the Ice, big disappointment–I, like many, thought the Hawks were going to do decently after the moves they made, getting Jones and Fleury, and having Kane, Dach, Debrincat, and other core players returning–at the very least, I thought they'd be competitive and looking for a Wild Card chance, but , this was dismal. I have no answers for this franchise, I really don't–My opinion (and I'm not saying I'm Right) is BLOW IT UP–Total refresh mode, promote the top prospects, trade off the Vets for more picks and prospects, and suffer for a few seasons as the young guys grow together into a different team than this one. They need a whole new identity.
I think they go with the rebuild. A lot of work to get the Hawks back into contention. IMO the Hawks trade Jonathan T an Patrick K at the deadline
especially if the Hawks have a bad season. That’s how they’ll get back a first round draft pick.
They need the 80's and 90's stars to give the team a much needed morale boost
Being from Chicago I don't think they trade Kane or DeBrincat. They are fan favorites and put fannies in the seats. Chicago fans would be up in arms.
They need Kane and Toews to pull a Michael Jordan and be willing to take a salary reduction if they want to be a competitive team. That won't help this upcoming season, it will for seasons in the future. If they aren't willing to take a salary cut then ask them for a list of teams they would like to be traded to. If they aren't willing to even do that then thank them for their time with the team as they will not be resigned. I will even overpay them for the rest of their careers. My suggestion is 8-year extensions with Kane getting 7 mill a year and Toews at 5 mill a year. Toews can earn bonuses if he is in the top 10% of face-off percentage like he did this last year and another bonus if the team is one of the top ten teams with face-off percentage. These salary reductions would give the Black Hawks (yes, the correct and original spelling) an added 9 million dollars starting in 2023-2024.
I apologize if you covered that, but I couldn't listen to it anymore once you started talking about the first thing they need to do is work on their off-ice personnel and reputation. Put a good exciting product on the ice and people are going to forget that they paid off a failed draft pick for having a consensual 3-some that included a member of the coaching staff.
the Black Hawks (yes, the correct and original spelling)
Hard to watch the Hawks go down in flames, but this has been coming for awhile now. Can't see anyone wanting Toews, unless his salary winds up around 2.5M. That Seth Jones trade is going to haunt them for years to come. It's actually possible they will be the worst team in the league next season. Bodes well for the 2023 draft lottery, but not what they had in mind. So far, it looks like Derek King returns as coach. On the bright side, they still have the best uniform in the NHL.
Kane or Debrincat R going nowhere….I promise….and again….someday you will listen to me😎🏒🥅🙏✌️❤️🌎🇨🇦🇺🇸
Devils to trade the 2nd overall for Debrincat.
Too much?
Not enough?
Fair trade?
been following hockey since the late 50s in Chicago.. seen a lot of ups and downs, especially downs when "Dollar Bill" was "ruining" the Hawks. then we had a great 10 year run, 3 Cups, it was inevitable that they would take a downward slide. gigantic long term contracts had a big part in that. i thought about 4 years ago they should have traded Kane and Towes, got a boat load of draft picks and started over. Kane is worth some good draft picks, but not Towes. no matter, i''ll always be a Hawks fan good or bad…..GO HAWKS
Hoping hawks win the draft next year. Bedard could be a total game changing player to add!
You're way overstating the effect the Beach situation had on the team on or off the ice. Nobody cares, the fans don't care and barely gave a second thought. The team just sucks, that's all. Toews isn't the player he used to be and they have zero defensive depth, goalie or forward franchise players. Kane is all that's left and he takes every other night off.
Ownership is broken and shows no sign of improvement despite the recent troubles. Chicago is such a great sports town too, really sad how low the Hawks have fallen
Trade their veterans before they become worth nothing.
The Blackhawks are the closest NHL team to me, because I live in a city and state that does not have an NHL team. So I have been a Blackhawks fan for my entire life. It sucks that a rebuild is coming, and that there will be some very long, tough years ahead, but it is the best direction for the team. Based on everything he has said, I think Kyle Davidson will do a very good job as GM of the Blackhawks.
To answer your questions:
1. The Blackhawks need to fix what they have done off the ice. They can't forget about what has happened regarding the whole Kyle Beach situation, but they have to try to move forward, and not think about to much to where it becomes an issue.
2. According to what GM Kyle Davidson has said, it sounds like the Blackhawks will be going through a rebuild. Again, there will be some long, tough years ahead, but it is the right thing to do for this team.
3. I think the future for Kane and Toews is kind of up in the air. I don't think Kane gets traded this off-season or into next season, UNLESS they get a MASSIVE offer that they can't resist. If they don't trade Kane, and he plays with the Hawks until his contract expires, then I think he moves on to another team. For Toews, I think there's a 50-50 chance that he gets traded this offseason. If he plays with the Hawks until his contract expires, then I think he moves on to another team.
4. I think that most of the players that are RFAs will be resigning by the Blackhawks this off-season. I think that Strome and Kubiliak are a question to return. I think Strome is resigned, and Kubiliak moves on.
5. I think the Blackhawks will resign Kevin Lankinen. However, I don't know who will be the other goalie.
6. The Blackhawks going through a rebuild and not having a 1st round pick is not good. The only way they will get one is if they trade Kane or DeBrincat, which I don't think is going to happen.
They get rid off KANE there done
Hawks need to be aggressive on free agency and trades
Cant trade debricant
And kane build around them
outside the team reputation being bad in the world of sports. As admirable of a job that Derek King did after 1-9-2 is he considered the guy moving forward?
The Rebuild is at least 4 years overdue. Move Kane, Toews, and Jones. Take the picks from Kane and use them to entice a team to eat Jones' awful contract. CHI will be awful, think AZ for 2 years, but this is fastest way back to playoffs and contention. Band-aids on sinking ship have not worked; since 2015 Cup, Hawks have not made it even back to Conference finals. [P.S. Hire Trotz, underrated and classy coach.] (Realistic Blackhawks fan)
