  1. Is the guy making this video high? Johnny is not going home. CBJ is a 10 hour drive to his “home”. This was a big middle finger to the city of Calgary and the flames. It’s as simple as that

  2. I’m from Indiana and I cheer LOUD AND PROUD for the Pittsburgh Penguins

    Those fans exist 🤣

  3. South jersey is closer to Philly than where the devils play. Everyone in south jersey is a flyers fan, also they are all eagles fans and Phillies fans. He grew up loving the team that everyone in that area does. It wasn’t at all that he cheered for a team outside of his community/ backyard so to speak

  4. In Columbus Gaudreau and his family is a 1h 30min flight away from his home compared to Calgary where he is a 4h 30min flight away from home. In addition in Columbus Gaudreau and his family is likewise a 1h 30min flight away from Philadelphia compared to Calgary where he is approximately a 6-7 hours flight away from Philadelphia. I think it´s a substantial time difference altogether. I´d say it´s even more substantial when you´re travelling with a little child. Am I right or am I right?

  5. Is his wife from the Columbus area? And maybe he just likes that city. These guys travel around the country I'm sure some they hate some cities and others they love.

  6. Even Johnny knew he wasn't worth 10 million a year, and was desperate to get out of Calgary, so settled for perennial mediocrity in going to Columbus.

  7. The coolest part of it all is that if Johnny plays like Johnny normally does there will be a lot of cannon fire for the coming seasons. Good for him

  8. Columbus isn't seen as a hockey town, but you need to actually go back and watch them in the 2019 playoffs. The guy didn't screw Calgary, he just found a situation he felt more comfortable in. Maybe he didn't want to live in Canada, maybe he didn't like the direction of the franchise. Who knows. As a Lightning fan I can see what Columbus could grow into. Tampa was seen as a joke of a franchise twenty years ago. Now with good ownership and management it really is a football/hockey town. The more viable franchises in the league the better. It sucks for Flames fans. I watched that first Edmonton/Calgary game, it was awesome. Calgary will still be a good team. Here's hoping Columbus can become one too.

  9. With all the salt about Columbus we're going to have clear roads during the winter for the next eight years.

If family life is important to a player Columbus is a top destination. It's a great place for pro players to live and they can actually maintain a pretty normal life outside their sport… unless you played or are playing for OSU football you won't be mobbed by fans constantly.

  10. Looking like Clb is going on a run… A move I'd consider to round out all these moves is I'd see how much leverage a Bobrovski trade with 50% salary retention would mean to Fla… Fla might have to throw a pick like Patches to Carolina… it's way cheaper on the books than a buyout, and Columbus looks like a contender with the goaltending… 5 million off the books for Fla also sounds like a good idea 💡

  11. The presumption that the city of Columbus couldn't ITSELF be a draw reeks of arrogance by people who never been there. Akin to a person from Columbus saying why would I want to live in Calgary? I would bet both places are good to live in and have their own unique value propositions.

  12. maybe johnny just didn't like the city. i took a job in calgary and it was the longest year of my life. i couldn't wait to come back to bc. i hope he gets a hat trick in the columbus game in calgary.

  13. This guy got so much unnecessary hate/blame in Calgary. Tbh I am glad he's on another team.

  14. Definately not a slap in the face to Calgary but it more had to do with his relationship with coach Sutter.

  15. Lego I'm from Jersey. South Jersey people like Johnny are Flyer die hards. North Jersey where the Devils play are Devils and Ranger fans. Never the two shall meet. Capich?

  16. He’s from the town next to me and grew up at my local rink- there’s a hard line between Flyers and Devils fans and he’s in the heart of Philly territory. That take on anti- NJD & NYI is accurate.

  17. I cant blame him for wanting too get out of Canada that country is getting like China all your rights are being stripped away your all puppets for your puppet master

  18. Agreed, this makes little sense.

BTW, South Jersey tends to root for Philly teams while north Jersey roots for NY / the Devils. Although it seems to make sense that anyone in NJ would root for the Devils, many of those people are geographically closer to the Flyers’ arena than the Devils’.

  19. I can get Flames fans being upset but hardly a slap in the face kind of thing. He got as close to home as he could. Ohio to NJ is a 1 hour flight.

  20. Why do people trash Columbus? Has anyone been there? It’s actually a really, really nice city. May not have the volume of night life but it’s a fantastic city to raise a family. Most of the suburbs are fantastic places and the people are very nice. Good food and clean city.

  21. I think he just wanted out of the battle of Alberta….he always had that look of terror in his eyes.

  22. People hating on Columbus have never been there, significantly better than New Jersey and Philly

  23. Would you rather have a mike stuck in your face after every win or loss or drive home to your family and farm on Green Acres and enjoy your life in relative peace? Johnny can have that in Columbus. Good Midwest living and Ohio State football providing some relief from the press.

  24. A wise man once said "It takes money to buy your freedom". (Jimmy Buffett) The it's 8 hours away line suggests that Johnny's family hasn't heard of airlines. It's an hour and forty-five minute flight. No customs, no mandatory vaccine crap and no Calgary. A free man makes a choice!

  25. Go Johnny Go!!! Go !!Johnny Go!!!
    Thanks Johnny good luck 😀
Go canucks go !! Baby!! So glad
