  1. Isles fans..what's the name of that musical cue immediately after your goal horn? The only way I can describe it is a orchestra triumph one up sound of notes…know what i"m talking about or the name of it?

  2. 2001-2002 Isles vs. Leafs is where my lifelong hatred of the Leafs comes from. Gary Roberts trying to end Kenny Johnsson and Darcy Tucker's takeout of Michael Peca's legs was just laughed at by the NHL, and I've never forgiven them for it.

Same goes for Tom Wilson's hit on Lubomir Visnovsky in the 2014-2015 Isles vs. Caps series. Ended Lubo's career, and the NHL still won't do a damn thing about Wilson's antics.

  3. I knew all this, but it still feels jarring hearing spoken back. It's s GM thing for sure.

  4. Am I the only one tired of beating the dead horse about DiPietro? Was the contract awful? Absolutely.
But all in all that saga turned out very different than what most would've guessed.

  5. That 2001-02 Islanders team had the potential to go deep but that series with the Leafs was just so destructive on them they couldn't push through. The broken remnants of that team got them back to the playoffs in 03 and 04 but it was clear they weren't the same afterwards

  6. Bailey the past few playoff runs has been fantastic, modern day isles legend

  7. The 2017-18 season was one of the most painful to watch and fascinating at the same time. After Capuano had left the team thought they were getting someone who really knew the game of hockey and could take them were they wanted to go. Unfortunately a little over half the way through the season they came to the conclusion that they were wrong and watching the team completely quit on Weight got to be painful to watch, as were his post game pressers when he would be asked what happened and he would stare blankly into the face of the reporter and say essentially nothing. As for Milbury there is a saying that if you can't say anything nice then………………..

  8. I greatly admire the current team. They have so many 20+ goal scorers. The roster is incredibly balanced and disciplined. The defense package and 2 goalies are very good. It doesn't have a ton of crazy super-stars, but I think that's the recipe for success in the cap era. It's just so easy to shut the stars down with simple systems it seems, and injuries can really wreck teams who really rely on their expensive stars to get it done. Or you can just be Tampa and have super stars and 4 lines because you cheated the cap I suppose lol. I feel like the Islanders and Panthers though have some pretty good playoff rosters.

  9. Just a bit off topic, it might be interesting to do a list of OTO single season scoring leaders by team. As an example you mention Trent Hunter here 2003-2004.

  10. On paper the Isles will be better offensively this year than they were in either of the conference final runs, on the flip side losing Leddy does hurt a bit, but I think there are ways to make up for the loss either with Wilde or potentially moving Hickey back into the starting lineup

  11. 2001-02 team was a fun ride.. The playoffs vs leafs was a donny brook & the peca injury derailed that run..

  12. I think the ownership was worse than the GM’s. If you can even fathom how bad their GM’s were….lol. The New owners deserve a Ton of credit for bringing this once proud Franchise back from the Dead.

  13. you don't go back far enough. If you go back to their beginning, you would realize they are the most successful expansion team in the history of the NHL. Yes, I'm saying even more successful than the Vegas Golden Knights. They were terrible in their 1st season, but by their 3rd year, they were exceptional, winning a series after losing the 1st 3 games and then almost doing it again. They continued to improve until their 8th season when they began a dynasty.

  14. Having been born after the 80's cups, the best playoff memory for me for a LONG time was the Shawn Bates penalty goal that won them game 6 in round 1… where they then proceeded to lose the series. Thank God for Lou and Barry .

  15. So much nostalgia for those mid 2010s playoff teams. Hated losing but I went to game 4 vs the pens and I was 4 rows behind the net when casey iced the game making it 6-4. also went to the original last game in the coli before the Brooklyn move vs the caps. I vividly remember those games in my head.

  16. I really like videos like this but as an isles fan I can’t help but feel like you’re not getting the full story on some of these series. Ie No Michael peca game 7 against the leafs in 02 and The sham game1 against Tampa in the conference finals.

  17. I know you didn’t go back this far but ‘92-‘93 against Pittsburgh was great. Without Turgeon, who was cheap shotted out of the playoffs last round by dale hunter, Kasparaitis and Malakhov rode Lemieux pretty much neutralizing him, to win the series. The Islanders had no business winning that series and a few years later Kasparaitis was a Penguin.

  18. That Toronto Series was when Dirty Domi Slammed Captain Micheal Peca without the Puck in game 6 ….. then lost game 7 🤬 Peca was the heart & Soul of the team and a Tremendous 2 way Player 💥

  19. Those playoffs from 2020 and 2021 covid altered and shortened seasons favored them well, and had their best shot to get to the cup. Had Tampa lost in 2020 to Islanders, Dallas might have gotten themselves and Pavelski their cup as New York might have lost it in 6 or 7 games. 2021 might have been their year again had they not gone to 7 games in the Final Four round against Tampa. I believed in the Islanders when my 2021 Cup pick choked 3-1 against Montreal as my father was from Long Island and remembered the spectacular 80's playoff dynasty with five straight Stanley Cup finals appearances with four wins out of those five Cup finals.
That team had the potential to win it all, or at least get to the Cup for the first time in 40 years, but after two straight "Final Four" rounds they went on a downhill. Trotz should've stayed.
