1. I think the move is to go with Lambert, he's a really solid coach and shouldn't be a major adjustment for the current players on the roster

  2. I can actually agree with everything you've said. It does suck to see a HOF coach get booted from our team but I do believe there is going to be some good out of this. As you stated, the young players need to be played and the offense/powerplay needs to be much better. I think this year barzal and wahlstrom are going to be really good depending on who our new coach is. Sorokin is an amazing goalie and our defense is still good with the core we have (exchanging Greene for Aho, no more Chara, etc.).

  3. This has a lot to do with Barry handcuffing the offense and not playing the young guys enough, at least That’s my opinion on it, maybe the players had something to do with it too

  4. I get up get a noticed on my cellphone from Bleacher Report that Barry Trotz gets fired from the Islanders why he was one of the best coaches in the NHL they ever had in a long time since the previous coaches I'm shocked that this happened dumb move by the Islanders on this one by Mr Lamoriello, Islanders got to the Final 4 the last two seasons, they started 13 games on the road with UBS Arena was finishing up, Covid, different lineups the problem was that Lou Lamoriello never got any goal scorers from the off-season he changed the Islanders franchise in a good way and u fired this man terrible move.

  5. Yeah I also agree with everything you said and I didn’t see this coming either. 🤔
I’ll bet Yzerman interviews Trotz and I would be happy to have him in Detroit.

It makes me wonder how much say a GM actually has as to how a head coach operates.

  6. Gotta say that is a nice Adidas Islanders away jersey I also got that jersey as well size 56 blank last year when I had to order it from the Islanders Pro Shop At Northwell Health Ice Center looks good in person.

  7. Very good analysis, with some very sobering facts about this season. Made me realize that despite being a future HOF coach, it might very well be time to get some new blood in. However…. some of the blame has to be on Lou as well, I figure. We need some (at least one) sniper to add. This team is one of – if not THE oldest in the league. I suspect that if no serious new talent is acquired, the Isles could be in for a few more disappointing seasons in the future.
Great video making sense of the commotion.

  8. Now u gonna see more prospects n younger players playing n less vets getting ice. That in my opinion is better.

  9. I bet Dobson, Barzal, Bellows, Wahlstrom and Golychev had something to do with Trotz's dismissal. His favoritism of the vets and suppression of young talent is 100% the reason, in my eyes. I bet the exit interviews did not go well, that's why he wasn't fired immediately when the season ended.

  10. Happy to see Trotz go. Didn't like the personal & petty stuff he pulls, especially in press conferences. Not classy. Not professional. Islanders are better team just by his leaving.

Lots of teams can take out, or come close to beating Tampa in the first round of the playoffs – ask the Columbus Blue jackets. Ask the Maple Leafs right now!

2 Islander Stanley cups in the past couple of years does sound a little far-fetched. But ya gotta hope!

    My colors don't run either!

    – Love, from a Bruins fan 😁

  11. I think Lambert is the front runner right now. Isles only fired Trotz. Usually a team will fire the whole coaching staff bc they expect the next HC to bring in their own guys. I’m thinking they want Lambert and he may want to keep the goalie coach etc unless they ask to leave with Trotz. Isles were much more aggressive offensively when lambert filled in for Trotz when he took a leave of absence when his mother passed away.

  12. Great job. Very thoughtful and detailed analysis. Also quite fair to
Trotz. I’ve watched multiple videos of so called experts discussing the Isles parting with Barry Trotz and not one even came close to doing as good a job or as in-depth an analysis of the team and coaching issues. Keep it coming. 👏👏

  13. Well done with your in-depth commentary. We should be grateful for what Trotz has done for this franchise and helping to stabilize what was a team that was dysfunctional in many ways. Eventually you have to move on and I think Lou is right with the timing. We need to embrace more youth and Trotz is better suited with a more veteran team that needs structure and system brought into their dressing room and play.
It will be hugely important who Lou signs as the coach before going into free agency. They need someone that players want to play for, but also someone who can coach and teach the young players. What are your thoughts on Paul Maurice? Is there a European coach (i.e. Finland's coach) that would want to make the move (just considering all the angles)?
