If you're the Avs, you don't want to mess with your winning mojo. Giroux has been in either a losing or an underachieving situation for a loooong time. I'd be worried about him bringing that losing stench with him. There's a reason he's called Captain Cupless.
The Avs best steer clear. Look elsewhere if you want to supplement your roster.

The problem I have is Giroux is 34 and his contract is up this year. I dunno… Barron has a lot of potential to give up for just one playoff run. I get we're probably losing Kadri next year… still. I dunno. I really like Barron's stock. I don't think we can afford Makar + Toews + Byram. So having Barron might be pretty important down the line.
Every year they say colorado is going to make a big move and every year it doesn't happen because they don't need it keep your group and chemistry and make the run.
Just not a fan of letting Josty go, especially for a rental.
My sources have the same 3 players you mentioned. Philly may have to retain for a pick but that’s the price

I am an Avs fan and have concerns about trading for CG. Great player, would love to have him in Denver , but I doubt He will be there next year. Kadri will be gone by the looks of it . I hate giving up good prospects for rentals. Jost I am ok with going. I like Him but think a fresh start would do him good. The two I hope Joe keeps untouchable are Newhook and Drew Helleson. I think Alex will be a 30 goal man eventually. Joe wouldn't be wise to trade him for a rental. Last year Joe traded Ryder Rolston to get Carl back and that hasn't aged well. Ryder is having a good year in the NCAA and might be shaping up to be a good pro someday.
Giroux for Jost/Ranta with Philly retaining 50% of his salary and ARZ retaining 25% for a late pick. Sounds fair. And the Avs get depth, and a very good two way player. In return Philly gets a depth piece and big body Ranta with 2nd line potential

As a Flyer fan l would love to get Barron , and as a free agent l believe Giroux is going to sign with the Flyers in the summer, but l do hope he wins a Cup with whoever….. except Toronto!! Lol

For Santa and Jost maybe but I wounld not use Barron or Newhook, but Giroux is old and at the end of the year he will go bACK to Philly, not a good idea
Don’t think the Avs would give upBarton as their D prospect pipeline is relatively thin would guess it’s Jost and Compher,maybe plus Ranta. Avs deep in bottom six forwards (middle six for most other teams) so trade capital to draw from there.
I hope whatever trades the Avs make, they don’t trade any of their players that are in the NHL right now because they’ve made a huge impact on the team, and I hope that players helps them win a cup this season. I also hope they don’t trade great prospects like Martin Kaut or any of those guys. The Canucks want Bo Byram, which isn’t gonna happen. So let’s get Giroux and more for some not so important players. Let’s go Avs!
