Why would Marino be on the market if Letang signs, he’s literally being groomed as a replacement for him. That literally makes absolutely zero logical sense and really shows you how brain dead most hockey “analysts” are
if Canucks want him, they should lead with Hoglander + , maybe add Rathbone.. i wouldnt go much more than that, he kind of regressed… which is troubling on a strong playoff team that needed him

Didn't the Pittsburgh analysis said John Marino is just a mediocre D. Best year was his rookie. Heard they said he makes poor decisions.
Honestly don't know who would want to keep Boeser over Miller. Just insane thinking here. Boeser has one asset: his wrist-shot. How many goals did he score using that this season? MIller is center and winger, plays power play, PK, is part of the leadership core, is a better skater and better puck handler than Boeser. What's the value in Boeser again? His dropoff in production is not a one-season thing. It's now been multiple seasons and trading him away for better skaters and even a decent D-man to me would be worth it. Re-signing Miller has got to be priority 1.

The Rust resigning makes it clear that the Penguins are still going to be trying to contend. As long as that's the case, the Penguins do not have the depth at right defense to trade Marino. The "right price" from the leaks would have to be high, probably higher than most teams would stomach, if the Penguins aren't going to get worse. I don't really think it's likely.

Canucks also get some draft picks and Alex Nylander who could be a wildcard if he finds game.

Brock had an emotionally exhausting year dealing with everything back home. He should stay with his friends in Vancouver and be a part of the core group they are building moving forward. Marino would be a nice add to that group. I love his speed. In terms of a trade piece Pitsburg might want a RD back. Someone like L Schenn who can provide grit at a reasonable cap hit would be appealing. We would have to add a prospect. Maybe Hoglander. Id still like to see Myers moved and the OEL line to get a different look.
