  1. Sponsorships, reach, and revenue generation in USD. Those are the main reasons, whether or not Bettman ever public admits it, is another story…

    Everything else is purely subjective.

  2. I don’t want coyotes to leave the nhl they belong in the 🌵 Great rival with Vegas battle of the desert I want see them coyotes get better and win a cup

  3. Wow, the Az. Coyotes abandoning the taxpayer funded stadium in Glendale, Az. the building that I didn't vote for at the time.

  4. Ever since the yotes came to az it’s just been a bunch of hopes and dreams. The owners and the nhl are right, the market isn’t the problem, but it’s literally everything else. Nothing but red flag after red flag in their resume. They’ve been kicking the can down the road for almost 30years and it’s not working. Any city council member would have to be out of their mind to agree to build the yotes a new arena to fail in. Move the team.

  5. There's no way they'd change their name back to Phx Coyotes while they are working with Tempe. Phoenix has been an opponent of their new arena deal with Tempe since it would directly compete with their own arena (Footprint Center). Phx has been trying to kill the deal since day 1. Tempe and the team both know it and have called their bluff on a number of their nonsensical issues. If the team were to then rename the team after Tempe's "opponent" in this drama it would hurt the goodwill they've been building with the city.

  6. So, if Quebec moved to Phoenix, and had their run of Cup wins, would there be a stronger fanbase? Would they have gotten an arena built since America West was terrible for hockey?

  7. If they don't get a Tempe arena then move them to Houston. Maybe comeback to Arizona whenever you feel like expanding again by returning to Arizona & Quebec.

Expansion cities (if Coyotes go to Houston)
    1. Arizona (but make sure its Tempe or not at all)
    2. Quebec City
    3. Hamilton (yeah near Toronto but Ontario is hockey crazy)
    4. Atlanta (yes a third time but it was the building not attendance that was the issue so make sure the building is secured)
    5. Portland (rivalry with Seattle & Vancouver like in MLS)
    6. Utah (mountains so sort of makes sense & another team other than the Jazz)
    7. Kansas City (return of the Scouts)
    8. Milwaukee (rivalry with Minnesota, Chicago, etc.)
    9. Regina (longshot but just so that another region of Canada is covered)
    10. Saskatoon (so Americans butcher the pronunciation 😂)

  8. OG Jets had Hawerchuk, then SELANNE (76 goals as a rookie!), Tkachuk, Housley, Zhamnov. They were exciting! The current team is a success, but I don't think that any of their stars equal any of the top four on my list!

  9. i just looked it up and i think the number one thing is that they cant get the arena in the downtown core of Phoenix. huge loss for them. its like putting the rink in brampton and wondering why people wouldnt show up to a leafs game

  10. They will try everything and NEVER admit they were wrong. Thank you Bettman, stupid.

  11. Moving a team to a new city that doesn't have a stable owner or building seems like a bad business disision right from the start.

  12. Struggle they may, but one must admit that Vegas, Arizona and Buffalo have been very interesting to watch the past 3 seasons. I would love to see Arizona, Buffalo and Vancouver make a serious run someday. The fanbases have suffered enough.

  13. If Bettman has spent this much time trying to save Winnipeg the first time around that would have been great. They still filled their arena. Years in now and he is still propping up this complete failure.

  14. As somebody that sat through decades of City council meetings in Glendale regarding the coyotes, I can safely say that the city of Glendale has been the coyotes problem the entire time not only logistically but also from an administrative and governmental standpoint. I can't even imagine how different the world would be right now have the coyotes been able to work out a deal with Los arcos in Scottsdale prior to the move from downtown Phoenix. Everything would be different right now.

Something else to consider here as well, Phoenix has low taxes, low cost of living, great weather and beautiful women. Young players will want to come here for the lifestyle if anything else

  15. Nice vid as always. What about expansion to the Mexico? NHL used to have some plans about it.

  16. Hockey will work in Phoenix as soon as every decision made by ownership and management are not the wrong one.

  17. I live in Phoenix. All the hockey fans live on the east side of the city in suburbs like Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Ahwatukee etc, and the arena is in the far north west. Just look at how many ice sheets are on the east side (10 in 6 facilities) vs the west (2 in 1 facility, not counting the Coyotes arena itself). Tempe is right in the middle of all of that with highway access to all the hockey interested communities. This will work if they can actually get a full sized area built.

  18. I still think Balsillie was a patriot, and would've done excellent things at the helm of a Canadian franchise.

  19. bettman let them move there so yeah it is his fault. The Colts in the nfl did that move in the middle of the night.

  20. Imagine the coyotes get really good year 2 in asu and are a playoff team. If they play in that arena, i think that would be quite a hostile environment for opposing teams bc you’d be getting shit talked all game long😂

  21. because the NHL has spent more money in that market to keep the team there then the team has sold tickets to fans lol the nhl cant stand to waste or try an explain the billions of money dumped into a stupid NHL market it dont matter how big a market or the population of a city if they dont give shit about hockey lol can have 10 billion ppl if 0 like hockey no 1 gonna go watch hockey its simple THE NHL/HOCKEY DOSE NOT WORK IN AZ BLIND PPL CAN SEE THIS SHIT LOL CANT SAY BAD TEAM NO WIN TORONTO HASNT WON IN 60 YEARS PLACE IS STILL PACKED BECAUSE ITS A HOCKEY CITY AINT TO FANS IN AZ HAMILTON IS LOCATION NIGHTMARE? HOW? LIKE A 1/3RD OF THE NHL IS A FEW HOURS AWAY LOL YOU MAKE NO SENSE OR ATLEAST DUMB SENSE AZ DONT WORK FOR FUCK SAKES

  22. They are a complete Joke. Betman needs to realize this and move them to Houston already, WTF is his problem? How many years can he keep them there when it’s definitely not working.

  23. Like the bottom 5 teams in the NHL in terms of revenue really need to just give up. We basically all struggle with cap because of these teams and NHL players deserve much better pay. People want to see major teams do well, Bettman will just not allow that.

  24. Born and raised in the PHX area, parents were season ticket holders when they were in America West Arena, I was a season ticket holder when they moved to Glendale. We never went back after that season. They should have gone east right off the bat.

  25. Both Arizona and Florida are booming demographic wise – it makes sense to stay long term

  26. What I don’t understand is at this point why not move them to Houston? Instead of downgrading market sizes like you would if you moved them to Quebec City per say, you’re upgrading to a larger market with an NHL ready arena and a natural rivalry with Dallas in the Central. It’s just baffling bc it seems like the NHL is leaving money on the table.

  27. The people talking about how their local CHL team could get better attendance than the Coyotes are missing the point. If the league was only interested in gate attendance, there'd be 15 Canadian teams and 10 US teams in the northeast and midwest only. Phoenix is a huge tv market. It's about tv revenue and corporate support. Give the Yotes a chance in a new building (in a better location). They've been poorly run for 26 years. Priority #1 is to improve the on-ice product and the fans will show up. It's been obnoxious waiting for Arizona to figure things out but I think things can work.

  28. Phoenix has been one of the fastest growing U.S. cities for a decade and it is getting tech innovative with a very good future and educated employee denizens all needing to spend their money somewhere typically where it isn’t a thousand degrees.

  29. How funny would it be if they did move Arizona and to Atlanta just to spite us all.

  30. They'll still be at the bottom of the league in attendance even in Tempe so it won't make a difference.

  31. As an NC State fan who had to watch five years of Sidney Lowe-coached teams, I am very sorry he coached in Vancouver.

  32. Why does Arizona even have a team? Wisconsin and North Dakota are much more deserving.

  33. How was it good for the restaurants and hotels. No one went to the games. My God move this loser franchise.

  34. Mesa is the largest suburb in the US now, just passed Brooklyn.

Tempe is the perfect spot for the team. Tie in with ASU and close to people who have money to spend on hockey, Scottsdale, Phoenix alone could support the team.

  35. Yet, they gave Atlanta about as long as how long ago this video was posted, three months. Arizona gets about fifteen years, and the Thrashers outsold the Coyotes nearly every year. Where is the fairness in that?
