I agree with you saying that it all doesn't fall on hellebuck but a majority of it does. He hasn't stolen many games for us. In fact he doesn't look as comfortable in the net. I think the jets need a decent backup to really push him to want to stay the main man. Nothing against comrie. He's played great this year but someone with more of a name.

Do you think chevy is acting the way he is because he doesn't want to panic openly on tv which might make the team look desperate and possibly de-value pending UFAs like Copp and Stastny? I just cant see the guy not moving parts for draft picks atleast

Great video and analysis, coach. I thought this team was far, far better. One thing is like to see is their projected numbers vs. actual numbers. Are we seeing several players having bad seasons concurrently, or is the problem elsewhere?
One other issue is the lack of key players to drive the offense and defense that might be willing to play in Winnipeg. I'm the first to call out Chevy, but the issue with our "trade history" our lack thereof may be less a desire to get players than a lack of players who desire to play here.
Future is so bright..ah no sunglasses needed..the truth hurts here unfortunately but glad you can be the one to tell the fans n not me as I just sound like a wheeler hater..but he’s the single biggest problem with his anchor contract n his terrible leadership..Chevy has to get value out of copp n stastny as this is a business n players are assets..if he doesn’t trade them then he’s not the GM for this team..copp may get you a first rounder..no brainer must trade him..I’d like to see Schmidt go as well 6 million for a third pair guy is absurd..keep up the great work !!

I really like Stastny and it's too bad we couldn't deliver a cup for him. He likely moves on this year. I really think they should try Scheifele at right wing, doesn't have the defensive capabilities a center needs to. Blake needs to permanently be in the bottom 6.

First covid, then Ukraine and now you break down the analysis that this team just isn't that good and won't be for the foreseeable future. What is more alarming is that Chevy is comfortable with this lineup. Fire GM, new coaching staff. Break up the core.

This team peaked in 17/18, watched as its top 4 D walked. Traded away assets to maintain the peak and utilized veterans over youth development like the leafs in the 80s. The end result was a slow inevitable decline to where we are now. It's time for a new GM, all new coaching Staff and a new vision for the team. If this team doesn't start now in moving assets it cannot afford to lose for nothing, next year will be nothing better than more of the same.

There were alot of us that comment here on a regular basis that could taste the Stanley cup when we aquired Schmidt and Dillon this past offseason and look how right we were!!
I personally think we need to hire a new head coach before we do anything else and they have to come in, put in their systems and evaluate who can and who wants to run them …..I don't expect alot to happen untill head coaching is addressed!!
I have only one guy on my coaching radar right now but I'm not sayin' who just yet 😉

Having 2 of the worst defensive forwards on the same line, it makes the team suffer and hellbuyck ends up picking up the slack on an already struggling season for himself.
Sheif and Wheels don't need to "learn how to play defense", they need to be who they are normally. There is clearly something wrong with both of them, and that could be the coach, or some team chemistry problem, or the early season covid that snowballed into a full on funk. You can see when they play that they are still who they are, they just have no drive or confidence. Watching Sheif cruise around the ice poking weakly at the puck is heartbreaking. Either he doesn't want to be on the Jets of there is that strange psychological death trap that both he and Wheeler have made themselves a home in. Perhaps next season with a NEW COACH will restore their presences
Adam Lowry is ‘fine’ but as long as the Jets think he’s the second coming of peak Joel Otto instead of the fourth liner he is things won’t change.
They also have players, coaches and managers that have direct access to the owner. An owner that thinks he’s a hockey guy and learned everything he knows from hockey from Randy Carlyle and Zinger and would rather be their friend than their boss.
What this team needs is a president of hockey ops and that’s the only guy that gets to talk to the owner.
Until Chipman stops getting high of his own supply nothing changes
What would immediately improve the Jets is the type of player we can get if provincial taxes in Manitoba are scrubbed.
