Definitely don't want to overreact to Seattle having back to back shutouts, but after having the worst goaltending by a pretty wide margin last year. These last two results give some optimism that maybe Seattle can have at least a mediocre goaltending core this year.

Edmonton's roster vs. Seattle featured a top line of Janmark – Shore – Ryan. The best forward they sent was Yamomoto. The Kraken meanwhile iced nearly their entire NHL lineup. We'll see how the Kraken do this year, but you really can't read anything into preseason results.

i dunno, i am an oilers homer, but that oielrs kraken game featured 12 kraken NHL'ers and 6 oilers, and the oilers had 2 posts.
Not a great performance by the Kraken, BUT: D'accord looked really great, and the 1:0 goal was very nice, so, cg, and hope for you Kraken fans you got more to cheer for than last season.
I mean, it's pre-season for Kraken as well, wasn't a bad game for that, really.
Sure nice to see, Adam Larsson is as steady and robust as always.
I just hope the Kraken improve on their record from last year. Grubauer must improve; his entire game was decisively insipid last season.
I was very hopeful Galchenyuk would make the team. Not that the Avs need him (nor that they don't), i just hate seeing guys fizzle. It's depressing, and i wish him all the best, even if that means signing somewhere else and getting a hat trick or two against the Avs in the future.
I imagine this means Andrew Peake will be a top-6 defenseman for Columbus this year, then?

Can’t believe players are getting fines already. I mean come on it’s preseason and these games don’t matter. I realize during the season and playoffs that things get competitive and players get angry but at this stage there should be no fines or suspensions.

If I was Galchenyuk I would consider taking a year off and player rehab himself to be better.Physio and resistance training,I think he could improve back to being good.

NHL "fines" are a complete farce; they should do away with them entirely, and replace 'an incident worthy of a fine' with a 1 Gm suspension. This ACTUALLY can make a difference to both the team, and the player (the cost of 1/82nd of a player's salary is a lot more than the $3,000 (or whatever) the player spends on a party over the weekend!), and the team can actually suffer having that player out of the lineup. END these pointless and useless "fines" finally.
So Jeff Petry actively watched people run over his goalie three fucking times last year and now that he’s on a different team he’s punching AHL players in the back of the head for no reason. What the hell is this guy.
