This was definitely one of the Rangers 5-on-5 games I’ve ever watched

    That’s it fire everyone

But in all seriousness these games do not count and do not matter. We lost 7-1 to New Jersey last preseason. It, quite literally, means nothing.

Fire the Hajek-Welinski pairing into the sun

  4. bbistheman

I thought Kakko looked great and I also never want to see Welinski again

  5. Envelopen

Devils made some much needed improvements, felt like we came in and underestimated them. Granted this was a top heavy line up tonight but, the play was sloppy and being bad at 5 on 5 is a very annoying pattern.

    At least Laf was awesome.

I hope Key, Bread, and Trocheck play tomorrow. Maybe give Krav some time on Bread’s line.

PK was perfect and scored 2 shorties including a beauty from Laffy. Kids look even more electric than in the playoffs. Top line looked ok and will look better when Blais is replaced by a better winger. We had to deal with 67% of our defense and a solid bit of our forwards being AHL quality. Honestly, I think our worst were worse than their worst. Hajek just lost the 3LD spot to Jones in that game and Welinski/Bartkowski are absolutely cooked.

Won’t read too much into it. Rematch tomorrow with a better cast of characters. LGR

Devs fans acting like they just won the cup… as per usual

Honestly seemed like everyone was holding back. They were not exercising the one timer on the power play and there wasn’t any urgency from really anyone. Maybe they’re playing it safe to avoid injuries.

On a positive note, the kid line looked great.

Thoroughly outplayed tonight, but didn’t really dress a strong lineup.

Kid line was strong and Laf’s shorty was a beauty.

Not sold on Hajek as the 6th d. I think he’s looked alright, but just don’t trust him in the d-zone….just gets pushed around and is vulnerable to coughing up the puck. I think Jones has to be in pole position to take that 6th spot right now. I don’t think his defense is that much weaker than Hajek’s if at all, and he offers more offense. Thought Robertson had a shot coming into camp, but he played himself to Hartford yesterday.

Of all the d-men in camp, been most impressed with a vet Welinski. Wish he was a LH d-man because he looks solid and an ideal 7th d-man. That Hajek-Welinski pair has been pretty good this preseason overall.

Fox and Lindgren were a bit off defensively tonight, but that play Fox made SH to setup Kreider was just magical.

Really want to see how Krav looks next to Bread tomorrow. Can’t wait for the real games to start already!

All things considered, even if we’re not sure who the 6th (and 7th) D is going to be, we’ll be ok. I’m not even sure who I’d prefer at this point, though I do not want Hajek or Tinordi for certain.

Nor do I want Gauthier in the lineup up front. Blais wasn’t necessarily doing it for me either, but it’s one preseason game. Blais will make the lineup, I just hope it’s not at the top. As good as the kids line looked tonight, I’d rather Kakko or Lafrenière be up there. But we’ll see what happens.

Othmann continues to impress. If he doesn’t make the team this year, it’s an understandable shame, but man when he makes it to the big leagues he’s gonna be something.

Oh, btw, VERY glad that Laffy is not hurt from that Trocheck blast he took the other night. If we get no other positives from this game, it’s that Laffy is OK.
