If you listen to what the scouts said after the draft, there were three or four guys that they would’ve been happy with at 19, and they were all still available. That’s why they traded down, because they knew at least one of them would still be available. They had no idea Zary would still be available, he was just one of four guys on their list.
With Washington’s 3rd we got Jeremie Poirier a defenseman who had 16 pts in 15 games in the qmjhl and with the flames defenseman draft track record he could become a stud
