I was already annoyed with brad before the draft. When I saw he was trading down I started losing my mind, he shut me the hell up.
Treliving could very well look like a genius in a few years. Trading down twice to get two extra picks knowing damn well the guy they wanted originally was still going to be available is absolutely fantastic asset management.
Dude, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Flames didn’t know that Zary would still be available. If you listen to what the scouts said after the draft, there were three or four guys that they would’ve been happy with at 19, and they were all still available. That’s why they traded down, because they knew at least one of them would still be available. They had no idea Zary would still be available, he was just one of four guys on their list.
What about defense
With Washington’s 3rd we got Jeremie Poirier a defenseman who had 16 pts in 15 games in the qmjhl and with the flames defenseman draft track record he could become a stud
