Conversation no one wants to have is the need to move John Tavares. His contract is just not good. If you could do a three way trade involving Patrick Kane where Chicago retains and you also offload Tavares contract I say do it otherwise no.
The only way this would this would happen is would trade Justin Holl and kerfoot and nick roberston and a mid propect and second round pick not trade Sandin and chicago pays 50 percent of the salary This the only way that Dubas probably would make the trade but how old is Kane and he could be on his down years now far as production regardless if he played with Tavarres and Nylander what the leafs need is a grinder scoring forward I beleive to have and impact in the playoffs.

Patrick Kane isn’t a second line player. His offensive production clearly shows he is a first liner. Pretty tempting to have a top line of matthews down the middle with Kane and marner on the wings though. Still not worth it in my opinion.

It would only work in ea sports..other teams would give a better package in real life. Comparing Robertson to Debrincat at this point in their careers is disrespect to Debrincat.. also Tavares should be a winger who takes faceoffs at this stage of his career. His speed is lacking. Nylander and Marner were natural centres. It's time one of them starts doing it at the NHL level.

He’d be best in St Louis or New York, imo. NY could make it happen, too— just give them Kakko, who needs a change of scenery anyway and a 1st. That could shape up to be a marvelous cup run! Chicago covers most of Kane’s salary for the last season left on his deal, then also trades Toews to either Colorado or Winnipeg for another 1st, prospect (and likely dumped salary players like Schmidt, Johnson or possibly Girard) to focus on a full rebuild.
This is as viable as another delusion that was recently presented to me. That offer was Suzuki. Caufield, Dach, a 1st round and 3rd round pick in 2023 to Winnipeg for Wheeler, Scheifele, Dubois and a 2nd round 2023 pick. The other demand was the Jets retain no salary. Complete lunacy. Why would the Leafs even consider this at all?
