People forget that in order for something like this to even benefit the Montréal Canadiens, they would have to have a spare 60 GOAL SCORER or 2 lying around…… to bring back from our LTIR. Perhaps a 150 point player or 2. JUST SAYING 😂😂😂. People act like any team in the league is half as deep as Tampa and can just pull 2 world class players off the shelf LOL

One thing requires correction. The 17 million over the cap is Kucherov and Gaborik and Nilsson, not Stamkos. Otherwise, good and informative video
Theyre overkill to the point that they dont need Kucherov and Point to win and they ruined the playoffs by giving Florida false hope and the Hurricanes had no chance either (I thought the Islanders were done after two games)
To me its hypocritical to complain about the cap rule then exploit it yourself (Chicago got depth players while Kane was out while Tampa is a super team)

Lightning fan here, so a lil homered bias, but trying to be real. I'm ok with changing the rules. I even understand other fans' discontent with the rules. But, keep the discontent with the rules, not with this team. You can't take a single thing away from what these guys have been able to accomplish. They still have to go out there and win the games. Talent only takes a team so far(like us in 2019 or the Avs/Leafs this year). If other organizations could draft and raise the same level of talent that we've been able to, they'd be trying to take advantage of the rules as well. Also, every NHL team had the ability to have Kucherov, Point, Palat(our entire top line), Cirelli, Gourde, & Johnson(every other line's center). It makes me wonder how GM's feel now. Would they still prefer having that flexibility, or do they want what fans want?

"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'". Every single sports organization looks for ways to gain an advantage. The Bolts simply followed an already set precedent, of which they had tried to end. I really like the "hold my beer" comment because it is exactly what is going on here. I have to tip my cap to Tampa's front office for doing exactly what they're hired to do. The cross-town Buccaneers also have a well run front office, they were able to re-sign every Super Bowl winning starter plus AB, and managed to actually stay within the cap. Tampa is doing it right!

This is a known issue: the only cup they won was even questionable. TB are victims of refs cheating for them. They cannot, and have not, won a cup on their own merit.
