1. Habs fan here, if you guys are having any doubts about this guy, dont worry at all. He is very confident on the ice and is EASILY top 4 D. Hes the kind of player you get excited about when he steps on the ice, especiallly for his physical game. you guys will LOVE him.

  2. Please explain to me why canadiens would make this deal then? Makes no sense if hes anything like people are saying.

  3. After the initial nausea settled from, here we go again trading away picks… this one started to grow on me. If he’s even decent for us, our def is set for years. Now we can focus on forwards. I respect the history & knowledge and trust Habs folks. If they say he’s gonna be gd I value that.

  4. Lou did find a couple of defencemen gems in Isaiah George and Calle Odelius. Nice some nice depth in the ranks behind Salo, Bolduc and maybe even Wilde (we'll see about that one).
Just need to focus on forwards now…probably a goalie too, as I see Varly being moved out to free up even more cap space.
Any thoughts on a back-up goalie who can play 25 games or so? Any Thomas Greiss' out there?

  5. Lou traded Devon Toews for two 2nd rounders and later proceeds to trade his 13th overall for Romanov.. this in itself should be enough said. Lou needs to go. This is an aging Islanders team who haven't had a prospect who was drafted in the last 2-3 years step on nhl ice (I could be wrong on this) management needs to accept that the window is closed, due to poor management of assets, and bad contracts to aging vets. Romanov is a step in the direction to get younger, but unless there is more to come, I think they are still on the outside looking in. Sorokin and Dobson are goated though.

  6. What an absolute joke of a trade….this team is sooooo far away from the conference finals two seasons ago. Trade Barzal!

  7. You will love this kid, I am so sad about this trade. People are saying top 4 D, well, for the last 10-15 games he was the defenseman with the most minutes, between 22-25 minutes, so more like top 2 in my opinion. Again, you will love this kid!! Good trade from you.

  8. Agree I was a huge Romanov fan and I will miss his big hits and I found last year his offense was starting to pick up but just a fun player to watch play. You guys will love him no doubt.
