That was one of the wildest drafts I have ever seen. I would love to attend a draft again, I went to one in person back in the 1990s. I saw Eric Lindros get drafted first and refuse to put the Quebec Nordiques jersey on.
Honestly, I think Wright might be the biggest steal. If he is even close to what people said he was he is the best player of the draft, and so going fourth makes that a robbery by Seattle. Otherwise, guys like Lambert qualify, but those are more wait and see. But Wright at 4 is an immediate steal. Montreal made an interesting move, the Devils seemed to have misplayed their pick a little (although I don't know if they tried to trade the pick as soon as they knew they had the option for Wright now and thus had leverage) and then Arizona just……..well did what Arizona does and fucked it up (no offense to Cooley, he might turn out to be better than Wright, but that is not some brilliant tactical move by Arizona)
The Kings getting Otto Salin in the 5th round is a pretty good steal he was projected to go early or middle 3rd round
Lane Hutson, is the biggest steal of this draft, the Habs will get their own Fox or Makar, he's that good.
Canes are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the draft the past few years
Lane Hutson could be the biggest steal of the draft if he somehow grow to 5'10 or 5'11
156-10=154 apparently
Canes drafting masterclass. It always seems like they draft a steal on day two. 2021 they got morrow in the 2nd but the much better value pick was Ronan seeley in the 7th. 2020 they got Gunler, ponomarev, nikishin, and pashin. All these guys I viewed as steals on draft day and they have just continued to draft well. Huge props to tulsky, he’s the guy behind a lot of the drafting. 2021 second round seemed semi questionable for me by passing on stankoven and raty with picks before these guys were taken. Overall I have learned not to doubt the method and they are going to continue to grow their prospect pool.
Back in NHL 20 Savoie and Lambert were 1 and 2 lol oh how times have changed
Lambert, Goyette, Hutson and Luneau were the biggest surprise to me.
Like I was telling my pals, we can only looks at the game, the combine and the stats.
We don't have access to analytics for junior players and even less the interviews.
I suspect a couple of those guys I mentionned messed up their interviews.
Great video! Could you consider making a video about the most surprising undrafted players?
The Sharks getting Mattias Havelid in the late 2nd round feels like a steal to me. He was drafted where he was projected to go, but he looks so quick for a defenseman. Only knock against him seems to be his size (5’9”). Looking forward to his development.
Canes are going to be an issue for the next decade atleast. Their core is so young and they have amazing players in their program
