This whole downfall started with the New York rangers destroying them 9-0
As a Flyers fan, there's a few reason why this season has been a nightmare:
1. The defense is awful, losing Niskanen in the off-season really hurt as I think he sortve commanded the D core and helped them improve. This year there's no leadership and everybody just stands around, and that's part of the reason Hart is struggling, he's getting very little help.
2. The offense is loaded, but only certain players can score at one given stretch. It seems like some players will be hot while others are invisible for a few games, and then they'll swap. The ones that were contributing go cold and the ones that weren't suddenly explode, and the cycle repeats. The only ones that have been concitently scoring are Couterier, JVR, and Farabee. If everyone could get rolling, this team could get dangerous.
3. Special teams are horrible. PP can't score, PK and kill penalties.
4. Too many passes and lucky goals. Earlier in the year, they barely got shots on net, now there get so many shots on net, yet the result is still the same few goals, most ugly or lucky. I've only seen a handful of goals that were pretty snipes or clean one-timers, most of them are tips, bounces off defenders or lucky rebounds. And whenever it seems like someone has a good chance for a good snipe they pass it, pass it, pass it.

Oh yeah. This franchise only has 8 Stanley Cup appearances since 75 Einstein. Spoken like a true millennial moron. Even with their 1st overalls busts. I'd take the Flyers future over any other team in the East. I’m not a flyers fan but I gotta put it on record here: The Leafs haven’t seen the Stanley cup finals since the first expansion of the NHL in 1967 and each of those original expansion teams have won Stanley cups in that time INCLUDING PHILLY so I wouldn’t really be talking.
