  1. Hey the Avs signed Jack Johnson to a PTO last year and all Avs fans were like WTF when it happened. Obviously he wasn't a huge part but he still contributed to the Cup win. You never know

  2. tbh he's not as bad as most red wing fans say. If he's there as a replacement dman (7th man whatever you want to call it) he's actually a reasonable signing. tbh he is about as good as De Haan or Luke Schenn .

Also Seider actually did better with Dekeyser than he did when playing with other dmen. I think partially it may have been because Dekeyser is always the guy to stay back. Leaving Seider more freedom to take chances.

edit: btw don't expect him to be as Physical as Schenn let alone more lmao. The biggest criticism I can give of him is that he is way too comfortable backing up to the point where he backs right into the goal line all of the time lol

  3. This has a “Chicago signs Kimmo Timonen just to have someone w/ experience give Keith-Seabrook-Hjalmarsson a rest for a few minutes” vibe.

  4. canucks are looking more and more like a JR team. he won 2 cups with what was reported as the worst defensive core to win a cup so maybe that's why he is concentrating on the forward position.

  5. I would love to see DeKeyser move into coaching. He's clearly a smart guy and a student of the game, but his body is just SHOT. It kills me to say that, because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

  6. I neither like nor dislike DeKeyser. I really don't have much of an opinion of him even though I'm a lifelong Wings fan. However, I've seen in the comments how some people are using his +/- against him. Danny DeKeyser's career +/- is 4. Now, I'm going to compare his +/- to another Red Wings defenseman even though this other defenseman had a completely different style and game. Bob Probert. Going by just +/-, Probert was a worse player than DeKeyser with a career +/- of -31. Now if people are going to judge DeKeyser based off his +/-, then maybe you should fact check before commenting. DeKeyser kind of got a raw deal in Detroit, and his body has paid a price for it. Now, I wish him luck in his tryout with Vancouver, and hope things work out for him, but that will only happen if he is placed towards the bottom in the defense pairings. He could actually be a good help for the younger up-and-coming defenseman.

  7. as a redwings fan i really think he was not really focused as he graduated from college last year..but still after the season he graduated and was a full time nhler he didnt do too well same with every other redwigs. college and pro hockey mustve been tough but he did say he need s to graduatre in case he needs career whuch i highly respect . gotta give him respect. not much get theire college degree while playing full time, hope all works out for him. lus wings gave u most goals for how much years in a row it aint all on him . just like when justin shults didnt wotk in edm but once he got to pitts he got a cup

  8. It would be fun to see Hughes or OEL on the right side. Good idea? Maybe not but at least it would be a fun adventure. And Hughes is practically a rover sometimes anyways.

  9. As a Red Wings fan I feel Danny nowhere lived up to the hype as a UDFA. At least 10 teams wanted to sign him out of Western Michigan. He was compared to Justin Schultz, never realized anything remotely close .We now know why Danny went undrafted.
As least I would rather have DeKeyser on a roster than that Sleestak Marc Staal.

  10. It also gives teams extra veterans to play during preseason games since they have to dress at least 8?? I think.

  11. Real nice depth piece for the Canucks. I like it. Those Vets like Danny-Dee and the Schenmeister are worth their weight in gold. Nice move, i like it. If the youngsters fall the Vets will walz in and be the backbone of the team when they need it. The season can start any day now, I'm ready. It's' going to be exciting.

  12. It used to be invited but love how now they are “signed” to PTOs…we have signed you so you can come and try to make our team lol

  13. Dekeyser is a good guy, wish him good luck and health. On a team with more talent, he could have had more success

  14. He is soft. Canucks need grit and a mean streak . He aint it.7thh d man though.. Th best D man on that tea (without the puck) is Luke Schenn. I want another 2 like HIM..Dekeser is 183?? he is 6-3. Skinny

  15. For alla the Red wings fans out there: Prospect update from Rögle BK preseason and Champions hockey league.

    1. Marco Kasper 8 (4+4)
    3. William Wallinder 7 (0+7)

Kasper and Wallinder been looking good, with Kasper at the top so far in points and wallinder in 3rd.

  16. There's going to be players put on waivers after the season starts so I'd be looking for a defenseman maybe in that group this is my personal opinion

  17. One general comment on PTOs which applies to DeKeyser as well: playing in pre-season games has value even if the team they play for ultimately doesn't sign them. It gives them a chance to show that they can still play well enough, as other teams may be paying attention.

I agree that DeKeyser could still be an asset in a reduced role and with the right team. Perhaps Vancouver is that team. But if not, then perhaps that team will notice what DeKeyser can still do as a Canuck in the pre-season.

  18. NHL rules dictate that a team must have a certain number of veterans in camp and preseason. DeKeyser is a throwaway.

  19. DDK was a huge liability in his own end signed to a bloated contact. Like many players of the playoff streak era, he was thrown head first into a role he probably wasn't best suited for. Any pick worth a damn was leveraged for rentals at the deadline so you got unsigned or undrafted players like DDK and Damien Brunner. Typical Holland era Wings signing basically. The guys weren't bad so much as they were forced into situations that didn't cater to their strengths. Thankfully, the prodigal son returned from Tampa to right the ship. As for Holland, does anyone in the Edmonton market know if he still hands out NMCs on every contract? They were like a bowl of suckers on the bank counter in Detroit. Free when you walk through the door.

I agree that DDK could handle a depth role as 7D at league minimum.

One other question – what exactly does Lego say at the end of every video? The stuff before "and bye". He says it super fast and I can never make it out.
