  1. Canucks are a trade away from playoff… a no.1 D. But, they are miles away from Cup….

  2. Not unless Petey starts being Petey, they get 2 top 4 D and a 4th line.

  3. Maybe… but the upcoming road trip is pure murder. They really screwed themselves over earlier in the season, coming from a nucks fan.

  4. It's not just about getting past the teams above them – the record under Boudreau thus far has largely been achieved against weaker or down-trending teams… the next several games the Canucks face stiffer competition. The record after the next 7 games will really show whether this Canucks team can/will make the playoffs.
I hope they do, but I don't expect them to, such is the enormity of the hole they dug themselves over the first quarter-and-a-bit of the season.

  5. We shall see. Do I think they can. Sure. But the upcoming road trip is going to be very hard. Now having said that if they can get 5 to six points out of that road trip I will be very happy. I feel if they had gotten rid of Travis Green and Jim Benning sooner I would be more on board with the thought of them being able to get to the playoffs. But having said that. I think they can do it

  6. If we come out of this month with an above 500 record, we’re a playoff team. Also once Petey becomes Petey again we can legit make the playoffs.

  7. "IT'S A HARD NUCKS LIFE THAT NEEDS TO ROAR" But " THERE'S NO REASON THAT THIS LIFE CAN'T BE…..ELECTRIC!!!"
And that is THE TRUTH my friends, BELIVE IT or NOT, Hello RIPLEY and PICACHU.

  8. Different coaching styles are suited to different types of teams. Green seems better suited to a defensive style team like New Jersey in the late 90s. I’m not saying he’s Jacques Lemaire, but he’s more defensive. The Canucks weren’t built for that, for better or for worse. They needed a coach to help the team play to its strengths, not its weaknesses. Bruce is doing that. It may not work if they make the playoffs, but for the regular season, they’re built for success playing this style.

  9. the canucks bias in me wants them to make the playoffs, but im optimistic. you can bet your ass im riding this high though, it feels good

  10. The window is now. Demko is an elite goaltender and no team has ever won the cup without great goaltending. Halak is a terrific backup. Rutherford is going to improve defence and try to get some more consistent scoring from the guys that should be scoring more. Bottom six forwards have been grinding it out under Bruce and I’ve only seen two bad periods in Los Angeles. Playoffs this year will be hard but if they make it in, I like their chances to make some noise again.

  11. Oh, it wasn't just Green. The team lost all faith in Benning's direction and management. They know the team's history.

  12. The system Green was trying to keep implemented was reactive. You don’t win with proactive players like Boeser, Petersson, Garland and Hughes sitting back, waiting for mistakes. Boudreau has a proactive system and guess what, the team is fulfilling its potential. Green is a nice guy, I’m sure…but a reactive system has to have a very specific skill set in its players to work. D men like Scott Stevens and Rod Langway would be perfect. Hughes and Tyler Myers? Not so much

  13. Benning built a good roster, he just made bad coaching choices. Finally dug the Canucks out from Gillis's mess only to have Aquilini cater to the fanboys. So what has Rutherford done to turn around the team, rosterwise?

  14. I think THG still has them out? But I think they are better than Dallas and Winnipeg for sure, for example. And maybe Edmonton if they continue to self destruct.

  15. My bet is yes and the oilers may miss. Vancouver n Eda one more big run.

  16. Also his coaching style changed quite a bit over the summer, I imagine Jim had something to do with it

  17. Fair analysis. We did dig a gigantic hole with green. If petey can find his game again we might make playoffs
