They don't need a Provorov on D. There's enough 2nd pairing defensemen on this team they need a bonafide 1D. Getting Sanheim doesn't seem to be on his way there either.
No way the jets win this trade. But typical Jets fans wanting run players out of town.
Based on the return in this article. Jets may be better off to keep him and get a coach to work with his defensive game.

I'd see the only trade option being a team like Boston bring him in as an elite 2nd like player could be the center or Coyle fills that if they bring back Bergeron they would have a pretty good top 6 for one last run for the cup. Or maybe Colorado has to let's some of their forwards walk to free agency and pays a big price to have scheifele as a value contract replacement for Kadri. Or with kuznetsov having issues in Washington maybe a swap could be there
I think what has also hurt Scheif's perception has been circumstances that haven't showcased his value. He was hurt in the first game for the 2020 playoffs, and last year he was suspended 4 games against Montreal. Those were lost opportunities to see what 55 can do. Also, the media/writers aren't really seeing him that often, especially, for an under-performing small market, in the boonies, team. I think these things must be considered in how people perceive his value.
I’m not sure how the idea got started that Scheifele is the whole problem with this team. Tired of hearing about it. He’s a great player with a good contract and here we are trying to run him out of town. Liane was a baby and wanted the team to bend over for him. Scheifele and Wheeler set him straight and now somehow they are the bad guys. When Scheifele was injured and not around the team the problems didn’t disappear. Systems have been the problem for a few years now. Not utilizing the talent pool to its fullest. New Coach. New System. Team buy-in. Simple
I think if 55 does not want to play here, his value will continue to diminish. I was pro 55 for years. Now, not so much.
About two months ago, I thought the Rangers would of had interest, and had the assets to do it. I do not think now that they would be interested. The emergence of Chytil in these playoffs, I think ends their interest.

With the Philadelphia option, I'm not sure why Travis Konecney wasn't brought up as part of a package back to Winnipeg. Any ideas?
These options were hirrid. It sounds like we are concerned with providing Philadelphia with a 1-2 punch up the middle. Same with the Copp trade, same with the Trouba trade. We are NOT the farm team for big market, American teams FFS. We SHOULDN'T be trading a bonfire #1 defenceman, and a #1 C for prospects and "might work outs." SMFH

Remember, the Jets trade 3x for a 2nd line center to play behind #55? If they can't sign Dubois the Jets are in big center trouble

Matthew Barzal and a pick in the 2nd or 3rd round as we have had good luck with late picks. Imo
Mark Scheifele is one of us. He's a Winnipeg Jet for life. Keep him in Winnipeg no matter what. But if you're going to trade him. Then get a good player and draft picks back in return. We got Pierre Luc Dubois for Patrick Laine. So something like that would be fine. That's all I have to say about that.

Lowball offers from homer writers don’t do much for me. Hopefully the GMs actually interested in Scheifele offer better pieces than this nonsense … if they don’t, we’ll keep him.
If the Jets trade 55 for a second pairing defenseman, I will probably just stop watching until they announce the rebuild. The Jets can be ok next year, but not if they trade Scheifele for someone who doesn't push the needle. Picks and prospects as main pieces are also unacceptable.
